Our mission statement starts with the following phrase: “To be recognized as the team that changed the restaurant equipment parts market.” Parts Town is a unique company with a uniquely enthusiastic team. Parts Town is about being different and doing extraordinary things to serve our customer and manufacturer partners. Parts Town is also about giving back by investing in our team members, our business, and our community to accomplish something truly worthwhile. Parts Town was founded in 1987 as a restaurant equipment parts distribution business designed to support local field service companies with the parts required to support their customers. We remained a relatively small business for our first 16 years of existence, with sales of less than $3 million in 2003. Then, late in 2003, there was recognition that the restaurant equipment parts market required change:
- Manufacturers were increasingly frustrated with declining OEM parts sales.
- Customers were disappointed by a lack of access to parts and low customer service standards.
- Major chains were demanding improved service & parts solutions.
- The industry had fallen behind the times in terms of technology and innovation with virtually no E-commerce available.
The time for change had arrived, and Parts Town, though very small at the time, was the company that would set out to forever change the industry. Leadership was brought in from the world’s leading distribution businesses, a new mission was developed, and a comprehensive, long-term strategy was put in place. These efforts evolved Parts Town into a culture-driven, customer-focused distributor, that would partner with the industry’s equipment manufacturers to grow genuine OEM parts sales and improve the overall service & parts experience in the industry.
From 2003 through 2012, Parts Town’s compound annual growth rate has remained over 35% per year. Over this nine year stretch, there was not a single year with revenue growth of less than 30%. Parts Town has been recognized by Inc. Magazine for five consecutive years as being one of the fastest-growing, privately held, companies in North America, and by Crain’s for four consecutive years as being one of the 50 fastest-growing companies in the Chicago area.
During this time, Parts Town has grown its staff from six to over 100 employees, and moved to a uniquely designed, 105,000 square foot, distribution facility. Partstown.com has become the world’s most utilized website for parts research and purchasing. Additionally, Parts Town launched the industry’s first mobile app, as well as the industry’s first full-service website optimized for mobile devices. Field Service companies have partnered closely with Parts Town to improve access to genuine parts. Major chains and leading manufacturers have selected Parts Town as their primary or exclusive parts distribution partner as a result of our absolute commitment to OEM parts, unique technology, and superior customer experience.
Yet, the Parts Town story has only just begun.
