Dip Into Delicious Fun!

/ Foodservice Tips, Restaurant Tips / November 18

Grab the long handled forks – November is National Fun with Fondue Month. Traditionally a cheese dish, fondue was popularized by the Swiss. Today, diners share the communal fondue pot to dip bread in cheese, fruit in chocolate, and meat in hot oil to cook it to taste.

In recognition of the month, here are some ideas to mix up the regular fondue fare:

  • Incorporate meat in the cheese course. Try cutting summer sausage into bite size portions to be dipped in the cheese. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can even use a recipe that calls for the meat to be mixed in directly with the cheese.

  • Light it up. A little rum and a well-placed lighter will set your fondue blazing! Try this chocolate turtle fondue recipe to see it in action.

  • Dip everything in the chocolate. We generally just feel this is good life advice. Specifically, here’s a list of things that will pair well with your chocolate course.

Remember to fondue safely! Make sure your cooked and uncooked meats never share a plate, and don’t touch the hot pot.
