Electro Freeze is a leader in commercial ice cream machines. With a user-friendly design, their soft serve, shake and slush machines are easy to operate and maintain. Supplies List

  • Approved Sanitizer (Stera-Sheen)
  • Dish Detergent 
  • Warm Water
  • Cylinder Brush
  • Hose & Opening Brush (7/16" DIA, 12" L)
  • Tube Brush (9/16" DIA, 30" L)
  • Plunger Opening & Shaft Seal Brush (1" DIA, 12" L)

Cleaning the Ice Cream Machine Parts

  • Step 1. Disassemble the machine - Refer to the operator’s manual for specific instructions in regards to depressurizing, draining and disassembling your unit before cleaning.
  • Step 2. Prepare a three-compartment sink - Use warm water between 100°-110°F (38°-40° C) to fill a three-compartment sink for washing, rinsing and sanitizing.
    • Wash: Warm water and dish detergent
    • Rinse: Warm water only
    • Sanitize: Warm water and approved sanitizer (mix approved sanitizer per manufacturer’s instructions to yield 100PPM available chlorine solution)
  • Step 3. Clean the removed machine parts - Use warm water, dish detergent and the appropriate brush to wash the parts removed from the machine during disassembly. The parts to be cleaned include:
    • Mix container, pickup tube assemblies, hoses and probes
    • Head plunger openings, center plunger openings, o-ring grooves, dispense nozzle mounting rings and mix ports
    • Shaft cup seals, washers, o-rings, plunger o-ring grooves and nozzles
    • Air bleed plug o-ring grooves
    • Beater shaft and beater blade pin holes
  • Step 4. Rinse parts - After thoroughly cleaning the parts, rinse them in warm water.
  • Step 5. Sanitize parts - For proper sanitizing, parts must be fully submerged in the warm water and approved sanitizer mix for 5 minutes. Do not leave parts in the sanitizing mix for more than 15 minutes. 
  • Step 6. Air dry parts - Allow parts to air dry before reassembling the unit.

Cleaning the Ice Cream Machine Interior

  • Step 1. Brush the machine interior - Using a warm dish detergent solution, brush:
    • Mix feed tubes
    • Inside the cylinders
    • Inside the drain tube
  • Step 2. Clean the drip tray and insert - After removing the drip tray and insert, wash them with warm water and dish detergent. Rinse with clear water.
  • Step 3. Clean the exterior of the freezer and interior of the cabinet - Wash with warm water and dish detergent, then rinse with warm, clear water.
