Hamilton Beach Commercial Coffee Maker Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble with a Hamilton Beach Commercial Coffee Maker, check out some of the troubleshooting solutions below. We go over some basic problems that you might run into when trying to brew coffee. Always refer to your specific machine’s manual for best use and cleaning procedures.
Weak Coffee
- Wrong grind - If your coffee doesn’t taste right, you could be using the wrong grind for your machine. Try using a finer grind or refer to your machine’s manual for the correct coffee grinds for your specific machine.
- Basket is overfilled - Overfilling the brew basket can change the taste of the coffee. Load the coffee and then gently shake the basket to level the grounds. Follow the recommended amount of grounds.
- Brewer parts have build-up - Sometimes the spray head can be partially blocked or clogged by lime or mineral deposits. Check the components for any build-up and follow the cleaning section of your guide.
- Poor filter quality - Low quality filters will alter the taste of the coffee and could result in poor tasting coffee. Make sure you use high-quality filters when brewing.
Brew Cycle Will Not Start
- Machine is not plugged in - Make sure that the machine is plugged in. Check the electrical outlet to ensure that it is working as well. Also check that the ON/OFF switch is turned to the ON position.
- Water tank empty - If the water tank is not filled with water the brew cycle will not start. Make sure you add enough water to the machine but do not overfill.
Coffee Maker is Leaking
- Water levels too high - If the decanter was not empty before brewing it can overflow. Or if you overfill the water levels more than the decanter it will also leak.
- Trapped coffee grounds - When there are coffee grounds trapped in the maker, it will cause leakage from the machine. Follow the cleaning procedures for your machine and check to see if the leaking stops.
- Filter is not fitted - Improperly fitted coffee filters will cause coffee or espresso to leak over the machine. Check that the filter is properly set in the brew basket before starting.
- Components have build-up - The spray head, tank or other components could have build-up that causes the machine to leak or spit water. Try referencing your machine’s maintenance and cleaning procedures to clear any blockage or build-up.
Machine is Making Loud Noise
- Machine has build-up - The machine might make noise if the tank or heating element has lime scale build-up. Follow your specific machine’s guide on de-liming the coffee maker.
- Pieces are in position - Make sure that the reservoir and the filter are fitted properly in place. If they are not in the correct position they can cause excess noise when operating.
- Empty water reservoir - Check that the water reservoir is not empty during brewing. It will cause excess noise if it becomes empty.
