Hoshizaki Freezer Troubleshooting

Hoshizaki offers a variety of commercial freezers, so there’s a unit for every need. Although these units are usually trouble-free, this guide on Hoshizaki freezer troubleshooting will help you identify and correct issues with your unit so you can keep your equipment working perfectly.
These instructions are for Hoshizaki reach-in, upright and undercounter freezers.
Hoshizaki Freezer Not Freezing
Power Issues
- Unit is unplugged - Plug in the unit.
- Circuit breaker issues - Check to see if the circuit breaker is tripped or if any fuses are blown. If there are issues, contact an electrician to remedy the issue.
- Unit not within power specifications - Be sure that your locations’ voltage is compatible with the unit.
- Loose connection - Be sure that the power chord is fully pushed into the outlet. If the power chord is defective, replace it.
- Unit is turned “OFF” - Turn the unit “ON.”
- Wiring connection is loose - Contact a technician to either redo the wiring or replace the faulty wires.
Defective Parts
- Evaporator fan motor is defective - Schedule an appointment with a technician to replace the evaporator fan motor.
- High-pressure switch is defective - Contact a licensed technician to replace the switch.
- Compressor is defective - Call a service technician to remedy the issue.
Other Issues
- Control module is in alarm - Use the alarm error codes in your unit’s manual to identify and correct the issue. If the control module is defective, call a technician to replace the control module.
- Dirty condenser - Clean the condenser.
- Ambient temperature is too warm - If the temperature of the air surrounding the freezer is too high, the unit won’t function properly. So, be sure to place the unit in a temperature-controlled location.
- Condenser fan motor isn’t operating - Contact a licensed technician to service the unit.

Evaporator Is Frozen Up
- Evaporator is dirty - Clean the evaporator.

Defrost Cycle Doesn’t Start
