How to Clean a Hot Dog Steamer

Hot dog steamers are perfect for concession stands, banquet settings, quick service and other spaces. They keep hot dogs and buns warm and ready to be enjoyed. Keeping these units clean not only ensures your hot dogs are tasty, but that it continues to work as it should. Learn how to clean a commercial hot dog steamer with this easy-to-follow guide.

  • Step 1 - Turn off the power and unplug the cord.
  • Step 2 - Remove all remaining food products from the bin and set aside.
  • Step 3 - Allow the water in the steamer to cool, then drain through the drain hole.
  • Step 4 - Remove components like the juice tray, bun tray, wire compartments and partition and thoroughly wash with mild soap and warm water. Thoroughly dry.
  • Step 5 - Wipe the inside of the steamer with warm, soapy water and a damp cleaning cloth. Dry with a dry cloth. 
    • NOTE—Do not immerse components in water.
  • Step 6 - When all parts of the steamer are thoroughly dry, replace all components to reassemble.
