How to Clean a Commercial Stand Mixer

Why Do You Need to Clean a Commercial Stand Mixer?
Cleaning a stand mixer isn’t difficult, but you have to be patient to ensure that you get encrusted debris out of every nook and cranny. Be sure to pay attention to all of the areas of the machine including all of the knobs, levers, under the head and in the ventilation slots. Keeping a clean mixer means ensuring a longer life for a piece of equipment that comes in contact with food that dries on and in the appliance and affects its performance.

Commercial Stand Mixer Cleaning Procedures
- Step 1. Power down the unit - Stop the mixer by turning it off.
- Step 2. Disconnect the unit - Unplug the power cord to fully power down the mixer.
- Step 3. Position the bowl - Lower the mixing bowl all the way down.
- Step 4. Disassemble attachments - Remove the mixer beaters, whips, dough hooks or other attachments.
- Step 5. Uninstall the guard - Remove the bowl guard by following the steps of your unit’s user manual.
- Step 6. Uninstall the bowl - Unlock the clamps securing the mixing bowl and remove it from the mixer.
- Step 7. Clean disassembled components - At a sink, hand wash the mixer bowl, guard and attachments with a brush, water and dish soap.
- Step 8. Rinse components - At a sink, rinse the mixer bowl, guard and attachments with warm water.
- Step 9. Dry components - Use a soft cloth to thoroughly dry the mixer bowl, guard and attachments.
- Step 10. Clean the mixer - Wipe down the unit exterior, bowl cradle and planetary shaft with a cloth and soapy water.
- Step 11. Uncover the hub - Loosen the thumbscrew to remove the plastic cover from the attachment hub.
- Step 12. Wash the hub - Clean the attachment hub interior with a cloth and soapy water.
- Note: Add grease to the hub interior at least once every couple of weeks.
- Step 13. Reinstall the cover - Put the plastic cover back on the hub and tighten the thumbscrew to secure it in place.
- Step 14. Rinse the mixer - Use a damp cloth to rinse the unit exterior. Then thoroughly dry it with a separate cloth.
- Step 15. Reinstall the bowl - Place the mixing bowl back into the bowl cradle and lock it into place.
- Step 16. Reinstall the guard - Reattach the bowl guard on the mixer.
- Step 17. Reinstall the attachment - Put your desired attachment back onto the mixer.
