How to Run a Cleaning Program
- Step 1 – Start by pressing the “Cleaning Program” button once.
- Step 2 – Remove the grounds bin within 3 seconds of pressing the “Cleaning Program” button, and empty the grounds.
- Step 3 – Remove the coffee spout and metal shield located above the grounds bin.
- Step 4 – Once this has been completed, the display will read “cleaning program use brush.”
- Step 5 – Using the long cleaning brush, wipe away coffee grounds from the bottom of the inside area into the drip tray, making sure to avoid the brew group and other parts of the inside area.
- Step 6 – Once you’ve finished brushing away the grounds, slide the grounds bin back in place and replace the metal shield and coffee spout.
- Step 7 – Proceed to the next steps once the display reads “cleaning program inset tablet.”
- Step 8 – Lift up the small lid located between the two bean hoppers and deposit one Schaerer cleaning tablet.
- Step 9 – Press the “Cleaning Program” button again to start the flush cycle. The cycle will run for about 5 minutes. During the cleaning process, all beverage selection buttons will be locked.
- Step 10 – At closing time, wipe down the unit and turn it off. When opening the next morning, turn the machine back on to activate a brief flush cycle. This will last for around 2 minutes. Once the cycle is done, the unit will dispense a short espresso shot.
- Step 10b – For cafes and restaurants that run 24-hours and do not close, turn off the machine and then turn it back on to activate the flush cycle.
How to Clean the Steam Wand After Each Use
- Step 1 – After milk steaming has stopped, remove the pitcher and wipe the steam wand with a clean, damp cloth. The cloth should be thick enough to prevent burns from occurring, so take caution when wiping down the wand.
- Step 2 – After wiping the wand, point it downward to the drip tray. Press the “Steam” button twice in a row quickly to purge the wand.
How to Clean the Steam Wand at the End of Each Day
- Step 1 – Submerge the wand in a tall pitcher of water and let it sit overnight to remove or dissolve any leftover residue.
- Step 2 – At the beginning of each day, remove the pitcher and point the wand downward to the drip tray. Press the “Steam” button twice in a row quickly to purge the wand. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
