Manitowoc Indigo NXT Troubleshooting

No matter if you run a school cafeteria or hospital, a Manitowoc Indigo is an efficient ice machine. When your unit is down for the count, you want to get it back up and running in no time. It helps to know some Manitowoc Indigo NXT troubleshooting tips. We can help you learn about common issues as well as how to correct them below.
Not Working
- No electrical power to the ice machine or condensing unit - Replace the fuse, reset the breaker or turn off the main switch.
- High pressure cutout tripping - Clean the condenser coil.
- Energy Saver or other field entered programming is stopping the ice machine - reset to factory defaults.
- Water curtain is off or stuck open - Water curtain must be installed and swinging freely.
- Ice machine is not turned on - Press the power button. The display must indicate “Making Ice”.
- Dispenser ice level thermostat is open (IB Models only) - Adjust the thermostat to maintain the correct dispenser level.
Not Releasing Ice
- Ice machine is dirty - Descale and sanitize the ice machine.
- Ice machine is not level - Level the ice machine.
- Low air temperature around the ice machine head section - Air temperature must be at least 35°.
- Fan cycle control doesn’t de-energize the condenser fan motor - Call a certified service expert.
- Water regulating valve incorrectly adjusted or will not close - Check for water at condenser drain outlet in harvest cycle. Contact a service expert to adjust or replace the valve if water is present.
Won’t Cycle into Harvest Mode
- The six-minute freeze time lock-in has not expired yet - Wait for the freeze lock-in to expire.
- Ice thickness probe is dirty - Descale and sanitize the ice machine.
- Ice thickness probe is disconnected or out of adjustment - Connect the probe to the control board or readjust the probe.
- Uneven ice fill - Verify sufficient water level in sump trough. If there’s still an issue, contact a certified service technician.
Poor Quality Ice
- Poor incoming water quality - Contact a certified service technician to test the quality of the incoming water.
- Poor water filtration - Replace the filter.
- Ice machine is dirty - Descale and sanitize the ice machine.
- Water dump valve is not working - Disassemble and clean the water dump valve.
- Water softener isn’t working properly - Repair the water softener.
Produces Incomplete Cubes
- Ice thickness probe is out of adjustment - Adjust the ice thickness probe to the correct setting.
- Water trough level is too low - Check the water level probe position.
- Water inlet valve filter screen is dirty - Remove the water inlet valve and clean the filter screen.
- Water filtration is poor - Replace the filter.
- Hot incoming water - Connect the ice machine to a cold water supply.
- Water inlet valve is not working - Replace the valve.
- Incorrect incoming water pressure - Water pressure must be 20 psi - 80 psi
- Ice machine is not level - Make sure the ice machine is level.
Low Ice Capacity
- Water inlet valve filter screen is dirty - Remove the water inlet valve and clean the filter screen.
- Incoming water supply is shut off - Open the water service valve.
- Water inlet valve is stuck open or leaking - Press the power button and turn off the ice machine. If there’s still water entering the water trough, replace the water inlet valve.
- The condenser is dirty - Clean the condenser.
- High air temperature entering the condenser - Contact a service technician.
- The harvest assist air compressor is not working - Contact a service technician.
