Merco Holding Cabinet Troubleshooting
There are two common issues that can be identified with Merco holding cabinets. These include the cabinet not running and the display having a cross hitch in the heating zone disabling the timer. Both can have multiple causes. Learn how to troubleshoot a Merco holding cabinet to get your unit back up and running in no time. Please note that these troubleshooting tips are for Merco MHC models.
Cabinet Not Running Properly
Here are a few reasons your Merco cabinet may not be running and the solutions to resolve it:
- Fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped - If this is the cause, you’ll need to have the fuse or circuit breaker replaced.
- Power cord is unplugged - Simply plug in the power cord to a nearby outlet.
- Main power switch is turned off - Turn the main power switch to the ON position.
Display has a Cross Hatch Disabling the Timer
Notice the display timer is off or the display isn’t working properly? Here are reasons this can happen:
- Heating pad connector is loose
- Heating pad has failed
- Heating pad I/O circuit board is defective
- Thermocouple wire connections are defective
- Shorted thermocouple wire to chassis
- Open thermocouple wire
The only way to remedy these issues is to either replace the heater pad or the I/O board. This needs to be done by an authorized technician.
