Wells Soup Kettle Troubleshooting

If your Wells soup kettle is on the fritz, you’ll want to have a few troubleshooting tips on hand to get it up and running in no time. Our team at Parts Town can help you diagnose the issue as well as give you some intel on how to approach them. Check out our guide below:

Warmer Won’t Power On

Notice there’s no power going to your unit? Here are a few tips to help you diagnose the issue:

  • Circuit breaker is off or tripped - Reset the circuit breaker manually.
  • Unit is not plugged in - Check that the unit’s power cord is plugged in.

Warmer Will Not Heat

There are a few things that could keep your Wells soup kettle from heating up properly, including:

  • Temperature control is not set - Set the thermostat controls to the desired temperature.
  • Internal damage - Contact your authorized service technician for repairs.

Warmer Trips the Circuit Breaker

Things like wet insulation and a leaking pan can trip the circuit breaker. Here are some solutions:

  • Wet insulation - Allow to dry or have a service technician come and replace the insulation.
  • Pan leaking or other internal damage - Contact your service tech for repairs.

Warmer Slow to Heat

If your soup warmer isn’t heating quickly enough, there’s a number of things that could cause this such as:

  • Mineral deposits on the pan acting as an insulator - Clean the pans with delime cleaner. DO NOT use on aluminum surfaces.
  • Connected to the wrong voltage - Verify supply voltage (must match voltage on warmer nameplate).
  • Too much water in the pan - Remove water from pan until 1-inch of water remains.
  • Warmer was used in “dry” mode -  This is a common issue with SC-11 units. Allow the unit to cool, add 1-inch of water then set the unit to “wet” mode.
