Aladdin Temp-Rite Air Curtain Refrigerator Cleaning Instructions

Aladdin Temp-Rite air curtain refrigerators allow easy access to items inside the unit, improving speed and efficiency wherever they’re located. Since maintaining essential pieces of equipment is important, these Aladdin Temp-Rite air curtain refrigerator cleaning instructions will help you keep your unit in working order.
This guide is for high-performance models, such as the AC10 and RAC10.
Supplies
- Warm Water
- Mild Detergent
- Cleaning Cloths
- Baking Soda
- Small Vacuum
- Protective Gloves
- Soft Brush or Compressed Air (for the condenser fins)
- Stainless Steel Polish (optional)
Note: Don’t use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals as these will likely scratch or discolor the unit’s surfaces. Also, since chlorine can corrode stainless steel and cause rusting, be sure to check all cleaning chemicals before use to make sure they don’t contain chlorine.
Pre-Cleaning Procedure
- Step 1. Empty the unit - Remove any food product and either place in another unit or discard.
- Step 2. Remove the sheet pans - Take out the sheet pans so you can access the interior surfaces more easily.
- Step 3. Unplug the unit - Reduce the risk of electric shot by disconnecting the power cord from the outlet before continuing with the cleaning procedure.
Cleaning the Refrigerator
Interior & Exterior Surfaces
- Step 1. Wash the exterior - Clean the outside surfaces with warm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth, making sure to wipe in the direction of the grain in the stainless steel. Then, rinse any remaining debris or suds with a damp cloth and dry with a soft cloth.
- Step 2. Clean the interior - Wash the inside surfaces, including the tray slides, with warm, soapy water and then rinse with a damp cloth. Be sure to remove excess moisture with a clean cloth.
- Step 3. Maintain the gaskets - Clean the door gaskets with warm water, baking soda and a soft cloth or sponge. Make sure to rinse with a damp cloth and then dry thoroughly.
- Step 4. Inspect the casters - See if there are any mop strings, loose hairs or other debris stuck in the casters; if so, pull them out.
- Step 5. Clean the sheet pans - Wash the sheet pans with warm, soapy water and a clean cloth; then, rinse away any remaining debris or suds before drying with a soft cloth.
Condensing Unit
- Step 1. Access the condensing unit - After double checking that the refrigerator is unplugged, gain access to the condensing unit by removing the front louver panel. Refer to the user’s manual for more specific instructions.
- Step 2. Clean the condensing unit - Use a vacuum to remove dust, lint and other debris from the coil, compressor and other parts of the cooling system.
- Step 3. Brush the fins (if excessively dirty) - If the condenser fins are especially dirty, clean them with a soft brush or compressed air, being careful not to bend the fins.
- Step 4. Reinstall the front louver panel - Once the condenser is clean, return the front louver panel to its proper position.
Optional Steps
- Step 1. Deodorize the interior - If odors are present, make a paste of 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1 pint water, apply to the source and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, wash away the paste with warm water and dry the area with a soft cloth.
- Step 2. Clean behind the side panels - In order to clean spills that have flown behind the panels, first follow the instructions in the user’s manual to remove the side panels. Then, remove any residues with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth. Remember to rinse and dry the area thoroughly before reinstalling the panel.
- Step 3. Polish the exterior - Protect the finish by applying a stainless steel polish at the end of the cleaning procedure. Remember to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the bottle.
Resuming Routine Operation
- Step 1. Plug in the unit - Reconnect the refrigerator with the power source.
- Step 2. Reinstall sheet pans - Return the sheet pans to the unit.
