Over time, with continuous use, seals and gaskets will wear out. If you notice a leak on your Bell & Gossett unit, maybe it’s time to check and replace the seals. Follow these instructions for proper Bell & Gossett 100 Series seal kit installation instructions.

How to Install a Bell & Gossett 100 Series Seal Kit

  • Step 1. Disconnect the power and allow the unit to cool before touching anything.
  • Step 2. Loosen the four body capscrews, shift the bearing assembly to allow pressurized water to escape, then fully remove the capscrews.
  • Step 3. Remove the whole power pack/seal-bearing-impeller assembly from the body of the unit.
  • Step 4. Remove the impeller nut and impeller.
  • Step 5. Take off the old seal assembly, ceramic insert, insert gasket and insert retainer using a screwdriver.
  • Step 6. Clean the shaft sleeve and insert recess thoroughly.
  • Step 7. Install the new insert retainer, insert gasket and ceramic insert.
  • Step 8. Moisten the inner diameter of the deal assembly with soapy water and press down tightly on the pump shaft.
  • Step 9. Replace the impeller and impeller nut, lining them up with the keyways on the impeller and shaft.
  • Step 10. Clean the surfaces on the pump and bracket and remove the pieces of the old gasket.
  • Step 11. Install a new gasket.
  • Step 12. Fit the pump on the pump body and tighten the capscrews.
  • Step 13. Open the pump suction and discharge valves.
    • Note: If the system was drained, it’s necessary to close the boiler drain valve and open the pressure reducing valve to supply water to the boiler valve.
  • Step 14. Vent out any air introduced into the system by venting it through a high point in the system.
  • Step 15. Reconnect the power to the boiler, pump and any other accessories.
  • Step 16. Check for leaks in the pump or piping around the unit.
  • Step 17. After a short operational period, the air should be vented out of the unit.
