The Bell & Gossett in-line centrifugal pumps offer a convenient way to pump water throughout the system efficiently. If your pump isn’t operating as it should, or you notice a code of some sort being displayed on the unit, it’s time to troubleshoot the issue fast. Below, we break down the various Bell & Gossett pump error and alarm codes so you know what’s causing the issue, how to remedy it, and inform your authorized service technician.

This guide is applicable for the e-90 Series of models.

Alarm Codes

Code A03—Derating

Cause: Temperature is too high 

Solutions:

  • Lower the water temperature
  • Lower the room temperature
  • Lower the load

Code A05—Data Memory Alarm

Cause: Data memory has been corrupted

Solution:

  • Step 1—Reset the default settings using parameter P68 from your owner’s manual.
  • Step 2—Wait 10 seconds after the reset.
  • Step 3—Restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

Code A06—LOW Alarm

Cause: Lack of water in system

Solution: Check the tank’s water level.

Code A15—EEPROM Write Failure

Cause: Damage to data memory

Solution: Stop the pump and keep it off for 5 minutes. Afterwards, restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

Code A20—Internal Alarm

Cause: An internal alarm has sounded in the unit.

Solution: Stop the pump and keep it off for 5 minutes. Afterwards, restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

Code A30—Multi-Pump Connection Alarm

Cause: Connection to multi-pump is corrupted.

Solutions:

  • Check the connection cables for any damage
  • Check for any address discrepancies, which could cause the alarm code to appear. 

Code A31—Lost Multi-Pump Connection

Cause: Connection to multi-pump is lost

Solution: Check the connection cables for any damage

Error Codes

E01—Internal Error Communication

Cause: Internal communication has been lost

Solution: Stop the pump and keep it off for 5 minutes. Afterwards, restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

E02—Motor Overload Error

Causes

  • Motor current is too high
  • Current absorbed by the motor is too high

Solution: Stop the pump and keep it off for 5 minutes. Afterwards, restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

E03—DC-Bus Overvoltage Error

Causes:

  • DC-bus overvoltage
  • External conditions 

Solutions

  • Check the system configuration
  • Check the non-return valves for loose connections or damage

E04—Blocked Rotor

Causes

  • Motor has stalled
  • Rotor is out of regular synchronization 
  • Rotor is blocked

Solutions

  • Check for any blockages
  • Stop the pump and keep it off for 5 minutes. Afterwards, restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

E05—EEPROM Data Memory Error

Cause: EEPROM data has been corrupted

Solution: Stop the pump and keep it off for 5 minutes. Afterwards, restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

E06—Grid Voltage Error

Cause: Voltage supply is out of the operational range

Solution: Check the electrical connections, and contact an authorized service technician if there are any issues found.

E07—Motor Winding Temperature Error

Cause: Motor’s thermal protection has tripped

Solutions

  • Check for any blockages near the rotor and impeller. Remove as needed.
  • Check the water and air temperatures
  • Stop the pump and keep it off for 5 minutes. Afterwards, restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

E08—Power Module Temperature Error

Cause: Frequency converter protection has tripped

Solution: If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

E09—Generic Hardware Error

Cause: Hardware error

Solution: Stop the pump and keep it off for 5 minutes. Afterwards, restart the pump. If the issue continues, contact an authorized technician.

E11—LOW Error

Cause: Lack of water in tank

Solution: Check the water level in the tank

E12—Pressure Sensor Error

Cause: Issue with the pressure sensor

Solution: Have the pressure sensor checked and replaced if needed by an authorized service technician

E14—Low Pressure Error

Cause: Pressure is below the minimum threshold

Solution: Check the power supply is properly connected

E15—Loss of Phase Error

Cause: A power supply phase is missing

Solution: Have the power supply checked by an authorized service technician

E30—Multi-Pump Protocol Error

Cause: Multi-pump protocol is incompatible

Solution: Make sure the unit is updated with the latest firmware. If needed, contact an authorized service technician to assist.

E44—External Analogue Reference Error

Cause: External analogue signal is missing or out

Solution: Contact an authorized service technician to assist
