Bell & Gossett Serial Number Lookup

Repairs and replacements are an essential part of keeping equipment in working condition. Being able to identify the serial number and understanding the information on the nameplate can really make repairs go smoothly and ensure you have the correct parts. Below we will take you through Bell & Gossett serial number lookup and what all the codes and numbers mean on their plates.  

Serial Number Lookup

Understanding the nameplate on Bell & Gossett appliances is an important part of equipment maintenance. This nameplate includes vital information that can help you pick out parts when making repairs or replacements. 

Circulators and Pumps

The nameplates display the following information:

  • Series - This will clearly display the series the circulator or pump is from, i.e “Series HV”. 
  • Date Code - The date code will be either a two or three digit character depending on the year it was manufactured. Consult your specific unit’s manual to check the date code chart for what month and year the code displays. 
  • Part Number - The part number displayed will be a unique six digit code, making it easier to identify and order when replacements are needed.

Maintenance Free Series 60 Pumps

These nameplates are different depending on if you have a BTO(built to order) pump or a stock pump.

Stock:

  • Series - The top of the plate will have the pump series number, labeled “pump”.
  • Size - The second line on the nameplate will be labeled “size” and has both the pump size and manufacturing date code. The manufacturing date will be a 3 character code that represents both the month and year made. 
  • Model number - Stock pumps will have their pump model number listed on the third line labeled “pump cap”.
  • Part number - The last number string on the nameplate is the part number and is on the “motor cap” line. 

BTO:

  • Series - The top of the plate will have the pump series number, labeled “pump”.
  • Size - The size line on the nameplate is different for BTO pumps versus stock pumps. This line includes the pump size, construction and impeller diameter. A pump that has “1 ¼ x 5 ¼ BF 4 ¼” means the pump is sized 1 ¼ x 5 ¼ bronze fitted with a 4 ¼ in. impeller diameter.
  • Pump capacity - The third line is labeled “pump cap” and displays the capacity and head. “30 GPM 15 FT” means the pump is capable of pumping 30 GPM at 15 FT.
  • Motor capacity - After the pump capacity, the motor horsepower is displayed. “¼ HP 1750RPM” means the horsepower is ¼ and the RPM is 1750.
  • Serial number - The bottom line on the nameplate will have the serial number and manufacturing date code. The serial number identifies that specific unit and what month and year it was manufactured. 

Series 60 and 1522 Pumps

  • Series - The top of the plate will have the pump series number, labeled “pump”.
  • Size - The next line will be labeled “size” and includes the pump model number, impeller diameter and construction. I.e “1 ¼ AA 4 ⅜ BF” is a size 1 ¼ AA pump with a diameter of 4 ⅜ in. in bronze fitting. 
  • Pump capacity - The third line is labeled “pump cap” and identifies the capacity and head. “21 GPM 14 FT” means the pump is capable of pumping 21 GPM at 14 FT.
  • Motor capacity - After the pump capacity, the motor horsepower is displayed. “¼ HP 1750RPM” means the horsepower is ¼ and the RPM is 1750.
  • Serial number - The bottom line on the nameplate will have the serial number and manufacturing date code. The serial number identifies that specific unit and what month and year it was manufactured. 

Centrifugal Pump Accessories

The nameplate for the centrifugal pump accessories line includes the following information:

  • Product type - This information will be displayed right at the top of the nameplate and it will clearly display the product like a “suction diffuser”.
  • Part number - The part number will be labeled “Part No.” and helps to easily identify parts so they can be ordered easily and quickly. 
  • Model number - The last important information on the nameplate is the model number labeled “Model No.”. This is usually a three character code that allows you to easily identify the model.
