Belshaw Donut Fryer Not Working
If the fryer isn’t turning on, heating up or just doesn’t have power, the following fixes can help resolve the issue:
- Gas line is closed - In order for a gas fryer of any sort to function, it needs an open gas line. Double-check it wasn’t closed and flip the valve open.
- Unit is turned off - Donuts can’t be fried to perfection when the unit is turned off. Check whether the power switch needs to be flipped on.
- Unit is unplugged - Turning on the unit won’t make a difference if the power cord is lying on the floor rather than plugged into the outlet. It’s always possible it was unplugged for cleaning or bumped and just needs to be plugged back in.
- Circuit breaker is tripped - A tripped circuit breaker can leave a number of kitchen equipment not working. Go over to the box and reset the switch by flipping it off and then on.
Belshaw Donut Fryer Pilot Not Lighting
Whether it’s not lighting at all or just won’t stay lit, the following solutions could fix problems with the pilot:
- Gas line is closed - The pilot can’t light without an open gas line. To get the fryer ignited and cooking, check if the gas valve is flipped to open.
- Orifice is dirty - Dirty parts can clog up machines. The orifice may just need to be cleaned out, or in more serious situations, it could need replacing.
- High limit is faulty - Whether it was faulty from the start or wore out over time, the high limit will need to be replaced to resolve this issue.
Belshaw Donut Fryer Burner Not Lighting
In order to properly ignite, you need a working pilot and burner. In an instance where the burner isn’t working, you’ll want to try the following:
- Gas line is closed - Burners are vital in the ignition process to get a fryer heated up and cooking. Without the gas to light it, though, you’re going to be left with cold donuts. Check if the gas valve is closed and switch it to open as needed.
- Thermostat is set incorrectly - The thermostat helps control the temperature of the fryer. Sometimes it isn’t set properly and could just need to be adjusted or recalibrated to get the burner to light.
- Orifice is dirty - A dirty orifice can clog up the donut production line. You can get the burner lighting again, though, by cleaning out the orifice, or if it’s much worse, replace it.
Belshaw Donut Fryer Flame is Wrong
The pilot flame is typically blue and steady. However, different colors can occur when there’s an issue with the unit. The following flame colors signal the following issues:
Flame Appearance | Issues |
Small blue flame |
|
Lazy yellow flame |
|
Waving blue flame |
|
Noisy, lifting and blowing flame |
|
Hard sharp flame |
