When you need to shutdown your commercial kitchen equipment for an extended period of time, it's important to know how to do so safely and properly. This is especially the case when it comes to your Beverage-Air freezer or refrigerator, since these units are so integral to your commercial kitchen. Learn how to properly shut down and restart your Beverage-Air equipment with the guide below.

Beverage-Air Refrigerator and Freezer Shutdown Instructions

  • Step 1. Remove all food product.
  • Step 2. Unplug your unit.
  • Step 3. Let the unit reach room temperature by leaving the door open.
  • Step 4. Clean the interior of the unit with a food-safe cleaning product, or make your own cleaning mixture by combining 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 quart of water.
  • Step 5. Wipe down any cleaned surface dry and do not leave any standing water present.
  • Step 6. Prop open the door(s) to prevent them from closing.

Beverage-Air Refrigerator and Freezer Restart Instructions

  • Step 1. Check the unit for any damage or standing water.
  • Step 2. Clean the interior of the unit with a food-safe cleaning product, or make your own cleaning mixture by combining 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 quart of water.
  • Step 3. Plug in the unit and confirm that the controller has been illuminated. If the temperature isn’t displaying, press the top-left button to turn on the controller.
  • Step 4. Add food product inside once the unit has reached the appropriate food-safe temperature. The time it takes for the unit to reach this temperature will vary for each unit.
    • Freezers must reach 0° F, per factory recommendations.
    • Refrigerators must reach between 36-38° F, per factory recommendations.
