BKI Fryer Troubleshooting

Fryers can sometimes have issues causing it to not work properly. When it comes to your model, we have the BKI fryer troubleshooting tips you need to get things running smoothly again. This guide covers the troubleshooting tips for the large gas pressure fryers such as the LGF series models.

BKI Fryer Troubleshooting Tips

There are four common issues that you may find with a fryer. Luckily, all are easy enough to repair. Here are the most common problems within BKI gas fryers:

Pressure Loss/Not Releasing Pressure

Cause

Possible Solution

The dead weight valve is leaking

Clean the weight and orifice. If problems persist, contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

The lid gasket is leaking

Contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

The solenoid valve is leaking or stuck

It’s possible that the valve seat and/or plunger may stick or wear. Activate the valve by starting a cook cycle. You should hear a solid metallic CLICK sound from the solenoid valve. If you should hear no sound (or a slow BUZZING CLICK), contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

The safety valve isn’t seating

Contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

Fryer Heating Too Slowly

Cause

Possible Solution

The gas pressure is low or isn’t adjusted properly

Contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

The thermostat is bad or has loose wires

Contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

Filter System Not Working

Cause

Possible Solution

No particular cause

Press the reset button on end of pump and hi-limit reset button under control panel. If problems persist, contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

The connections aren’t tight

Tighten the connections. If problems persist, contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

The filter valve isn’t open

Contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

The filter paper on the screen

Change filter paper. If problems persist, contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

The motor hums but doesn’t pump

Check for clogged pump. If problems persist, contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action

The motor and pump coupling are worn

Contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.

There’s no power to the control panel

Make sure drain valve is completely closed. If problems persist, contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action. 

Computer Hangs

If there’s a computer malfunction, press and hold the Toggle/Clear button while moving the FRY/OFF/FILTER switch from FRY to OFF and back to FRY. If problems persist, contact an authorized BKI service agent for corrective action.
