Carter Hoffmann Cheesemelter Cleaning-Carter Hoffmann Logo

Many commercial kitchens and restaurants rely on Carter Hoffmann for a wide selection of heating and cooking equipment. Their cheesemelter is used in various applications to quickly melt cheese and heat delicious dishes to perfection. Like many other pieces of equipment, these units need consistent maintenance to get the best possible use. In this guide, we provide Carter Hoffmann cheesemelter cleaning instructions you can do periodically throughout the week.

Before You Begin…

Remember not to use strong detergents, ammonia solutions or abrasive materials. The manufacturer only recommends cleaning agents that are approved for aluminum. Also, avoid using steel wool pads. These and abrasive cleaners can cost rust and other damage that isn’t covered under the manufacturer warranty.

Cleaning Procedure

  • Step 1. Prepare for cleaning – Start by turning off the equipment and unplugging the power cord from the outlet. Put on clean gloves and remove any pans, trays or food from the finishing chamber. Make sure the unit cools down before proceeding to step 2.
  • Step 2. Wash the interior and exterior – Using soapy water on a sponge or soft cloth, clean the inside of the cabinet and exterior surfaces. During the washing process, avoid getting water into the controls, control panel or wiring. Water damage isn’t covered under the manufacturer warranty.
  • Step 3. Check and clear the air flow openings – See if there are any blockages in the air flow openings. Carefully clean them out to remove blockages.
  • Step 4. Rinse and dry the interior and exterior – Use a dampened towel with clean water to rinse the interior cabinet and exterior surfaces. Don’t flood the cabinet with excess water or cleaning solution. Once you rinse, let the unit air dry.
  • Step 5. Reconnect the unit – Plug the cheesemelter back in and power up the machine. It’s ready for use.
