Cleaning an Electrolux Washing Machine

An important part of preventative maintenance is cleaning. Make sure you don’t miss any of the essential areas that need attention so you don’t have to worry about your washing machine prematurely breaking down. This guide on cleaning an Electrolux washing machine will help point out all the parts you need to focus on.
Supplies Needed
- Cleaning cloths
- Mild detergent
- Small brush
- Chlorine bleach
Cleaning the Interior
In order to clean the interior of an Electrolux washing machine, you’ll want to perform the Clean Washer Cycle. Doing this once a month will help keep your unit clean for continuous use. Here’s how you can start the cycle on your unit:
- Step 1. Select Clean Washer Cycle.
- Step 2. Remove the liquid detergent cup from the dispenser.
- Step 3. Remove all items from the washer drum.
- Step 4. Fill the detergent compartment with one cup of either liquid chlorine bleach or one pouch of Tide™ Washing Machine Cleaner. DO NOT use both.
- Step 5. Press the Start/Pause button to begin the cycle.
Cleaning the Three-Compartment Dispenser Drawer
No matter if you have the Adaptive Dispenser™ or the three-compartment dispenser, it needs to be cleaned regularly to avoid buildup. Luckily, the process to clean them is the same. Here’s how to clean out the dispenser drawers of your unit:
- Step 1. Remove the drawer by pulling it out until it stops.
- Step 2. Reach back into the left rear corner and firmly press the lock tab downward to pull out the drawer.
- Step 3. Remove all inserts from the drawers.
- Step 4. Using hot water, rinse the drawer and all inserts in the sink to remove any leftover residue.
- Step 5. Use a small brush to clean the opening of the drawer on the unit.
- Step 6. Replace the inserts and the drawer by clicking them into place.
Cleaning the Electrolux Washing Machine Exterior
Keeping the exterior clean is just as important as deep cleaning the interior. When it comes to cleaning the Electrolux washing machine exterior, follow these steps:
- Step 1. Take a damp cloth and wipe down the top and sides.
- Step 2. Using a mild soap and water mixture, clean the cabinet.
- Step 3. Remove any stains with a diluted chlorine bleach (one part bleach to 8 parts water).
- Step 4. Rinse the unit with clean water.
- Step 5. Clean any stainless steel components with a damp cloth.
- Step 6. Check that the feet are clear of any dust and on a stable surface.
