Continental Refrigerator Gasket Replacement

Although Continental Refrigerator units are known for their dependability, replacing the gasket is a simple thing you can do to improve your machine’s efficiency and extend its working life. If you’re looking for instructions, this Continental Refrigerator gasket replacement guide will make the process quick and easy.
Supplies
- Warm Water
- Deep Sink (for soaking the new gasket)
- Mild Detergent
- Clean Cloths
- Replacement Gasket
In addition to cleaning your gasket once every 3 months, be sure to check it regularly for damage and replace it if needed. In general, the gasket should be replaced at least once every 12 months, if not more frequently.
Pre-Installation Procedure
- Step 1. Unplug the refrigerator - In order to avoid electric hazards, unplug the power cord from the electric outlet. Since replacing the gasket is a fairly quick procedure, emptying the unit isn’t necessary.
- Step 2. Choose the right gasket - Use the unit’s model and serial number to select the correct gasket.
- Step 3. Soak the replacement gasket - To make the new gasket more flexible and easier to install, soak it in warm water for 10 minutes before beginning the installation process. Remember to dry it thoroughly before installing it in the refrigerator.
How to Replace the Gasket
- Step 1. Remove the old gasket - Take out the gasket by gripping it in one of the corners and then pulling it out of the groove. Continue pulling as you work your way around the sides of the door until the gasket is fully removed. Discard the gasket.
- Step 2. Clean the groove - Use warm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth to wash the track where the old gasket was installed. Rinse away any remaining residues or suds with warm water and dry the groove with a clean cloth.
- Step 3. Install the new gasket - Position the gasket over the groove and press down on one of the corners, inserting the dart. Work your way around the door until the gasket is fully installed. For more information, see our dart door gasket replacement instructions.
Resuming Normal Operation
- Step 1. Check the installation - Finalize the installation procedure by closing the door to make sure the gasket is positioned properly. If the door doesn’t close fully, inspect the gasket and push it in wherever needed.
- Step 2. Plug in the refrigerator - After making sure the gasket is properly installed, plug the power cord into an electrical outlet.
- Step 3. Use the unit normally - Once the gasket is installed and power is restored, resume normal use of the refrigerator.
