Delfield Ice Cream Freezer Cleaning

Delfield Ice Cream Freezer Cleaning

Keeping a clean and hygienic Delfield ice cream freezer is an essential part of proper  maintenance of your equipment. Preventative maintenance extends the lifetime of your equipment and ensures kitchen safety standards are met. Below we have some tips on Delfield ice cream freezer cleaning that will help you keep your frozen treats safe and delicious.

The following maintenance and cleaning tips are for Delfield 200 & 300 series models.

Cleaning Tips

Be sure to never hose down the interior or exterior of the unit with water, as this can void the warranty.

  • Clean condenser fins - Use a vacuum cleaner or stiff brush to clear the fins of any dirt, dust or grease. Be careful while cleaning the fins to ensure they aren’t bent during cleaning. The condenser should be cleaned every 3 months, unless you find your fins are severely blocked. Then you should clean them more frequently.
  • Defrost the unit - Defrosting the ice cream storage freezer must be done manually once ⅜ inches of ice has accumulated in the freezer. Turn the thermostat knob to the OFF position and disconnect the unit from the power source, then start manually defrosting the machine.
  • Clean the lid - Clean the lids with warm water and soap and use a soft cloth to wipe away any dirt or grime build-up. Doing this on a regular basis will help maintain the lid’s seal so frozen food stays cold.
  • Clean the exterior - Use warm water and a mild soap to wipe down the exterior of the unit. Always wipe with the grain of the stainless steel to avoid damaging the finish. Be sure to thoroughly dry the exterior as well.
  • Clean the interior - Use warm water and a mild soap to wipe down the interior of the unit. Make sure to wipe the interior dry of any water accumulation. If mild soap and water does not get the interior fully cleaned, you can use a mixture of ammonia and water or a non-abrasive cleaner. Be sure to thoroughly rinse the interior after using any ammonia or cleaners.
