Garland Deep Fryer Troubleshooting

Keeping the deep fryer functional for the lunch rush can take some work and time. That’s why we are going to help you with your Garland deep fryer troubleshooting. We will go over some of the most common problems you might run into, like power issues and oil temperature. That way you can get back to frying fries and more. 


The following troubleshooting guide is designed for the Garland S18-F series deep fat fryers.

Power/Heating Indicator is On or Heating Unevenly

Possible Cause

  • One or more circuit breakers are turned off
  • One or more elements are defective

Solutions

  • Switch the circuit breakers back on
  • Replace any broken elements

Red Indicator Light is On or Fryer is Not Heating

Possible Cause

  • High temperature limit is tripped

Solutions

  • Replace the operating thermostat if it is defective
  • Replace the operating contractor if it is defective

Fryer Will Not Start - Green or Red Indicator Not On

Possible Cause

  • Power switch is defective
  • Safety contactor is defective
  • Auxiliary contacts on the thermostat are defective

Solutions

  • Replace the defective power switch
  • Replace the defective contactor
  • Replace the defective operating thermostat

Oil temperature too hot or too cold

Possible Cause

  • The thermostat is out of calibration or malfunctioning

Solutions

  • Calibrate the thermostat or replace if it cannot be adjusted
