Picture - Garland Grill Shutdown and Start-Up Instructions

If a commercial grill will be idle for an extended period of time, there are special guidelines you need to follow to ensure it stays in peak condition when restarted. Garland grills have specific instructions to follow. Below are procedures from our friends at Garland for shutting down and starting up its line of commercial grills.

Garland Grill Shutdown Procedures

  • Step 1. Complete a weekly clean (per cleaning card GR 3 W1).
  • Step 2. On completion of the weekly cleaning, make sure the grill plate is cool. Then, apply a thin layer of clean vegetable oil over the grill plate. This helps prevent rust from forming.
  • Step 3. Don't reinstall Teflons. Wash as normal and store them in a suitable location.
  • Step 4. Lower the platens by activating the green button.
  • Step 5. Switch off the grill power switch to turn off the unit.

Garland Grill Start-Up Procedures

  • Step 1. Clean oil from the grill plate.
  • Step 2. Ensure the grill is clean and ready to use.
  • Step 3. Reinstall Teflons.
  • Step 4. Commence pre-heat procedure as normal.
