Have a glass washer that needs cleaning? Whether your unit has a musty smell or you notice some build-up, it’s important to know the proper glass washer cleaning instructions. Learn more below with our helpful guide.

How to Clean a Commercial Glass Washer

Glass washers should be cleaned after daily use to keep it working efficiently.

  • Step 1. Press the drain switch for 10 seconds to drain the tank.
  • Step 2. Unplug the unit to disconnect it from the power source. 
  • Step 3. Remove the racks and any remaining glassware. Set the racks aside to clean later. 
  • Step 4. Check the filter and float switch, clearing any food debris away as needed. 
  • Step 5. With a scrub brush, loosen any caked-on debris.
  • Step 6. Use a sponge and warm water to clean the conveyor and interior of the unit.
  • Step 7. Rinse out the interior and conveyor with a damp cloth, then dry them both with a clean cloth.
  • Step 8. Using a clean cloth and stainless steel cleaner, wipe the exterior of the glass washer. 
  • Step 9. At a sink, wash the racks with a sponge and soapy water. 
  • Step 10. Rinse and dry the racks.
  • Step 11. Reinsert the racks into the glass washer.

  • Detergents - Detergent removes grease, dirt and build-up on your equipment.
  • Sanitizers - Sanitizers are meant to kill bacteria and prevent disease-causing microorganisms from contaminating your glassware.
  • Descalers - Descalers are perfect for removing calcium and mineral build-up from continuous use.
