Get ahead of the game and make sure your furnace is ready to keep spaces heated in time for the winter weather. A furnace is only as good as the maintenance you keep on it, so we answer some of the essential questions on Goodman furnace filter replacement below. We can help you figure out where to find your furnace filter and talk on what is the right filter for your equipment.

Filter Location

Finding the filter is the first step before you can really get into maintenance and replacing the filter. In most furnaces, you can find the filter compartment near the blower or return register. If the filter is not located there, consult your specific model’s manual.

How to Choose the Right Filter

Having the right filter for your furnace can make a huge difference in function. There are disposable filters that get replacements and permanent filters that require some maintenance and cleaning. So how do you know which one is right for your furnace? Check the filter compartment first and see what filter your furnace was installed with. If it’s a disposable filter, you will want to buy a replacement that is the same size and type.

How Often Should I Replace the Filter?

When is the right time to change or replace your furnace filter? Well that depends on the type of filter that your furnace takes. Generally, filters should be cleaned or replaced every two months. However, some furnaces take larger filters that require less frequent replacements. Check your specific unit’s filter to see the size and replacement frequency.

Filter Replacement & Maintenance

  • Step 1. Open the filter compartment - Open the compartment door that houses the filter.
