Hatco Panini Grill Cleaning Instructions

Picture - Hatco Panini Grill Cleaning Instructions

Hatco panini grills offer a range of features that enhance cooking efficiency and product quality. To maintain peak performance, use these Hatco panini grill cleaning instructions to keep your equipment operating safely and smoothly.

This information applies to PG digital and MCG manual series units, such as the PG14G-1 and MCG20G, respectively.

Supplies

Clean the grill daily to prevent malfunctions and maintain hygiene. Avoid using harsh chemicals such as bleach, as well as abrasive cleaners like steel wool (except on MCG grill plates), as these can scratch the finish. Also, never try to cool down the unit by submerging it in water since this can damage the plates.

Pre-Cleaning Procedure

  • Step 1. Power down the grill - Flip the Power I/O switch to the “Off” position.
  • Step 2. Shut off the heat - Turn the temperature control knob fully counterclockwise to the “Off” position.
  • Step 3. Unplug the unit - Pull the power cord out of the electrical outlet.
  • Step 4. Cool down the machine - Allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before continuing.

Cleaning the Plates

  • Step 1. Wipe the plates - Remove food crumbs and residues from the cast iron grill plates by wiping them with a soft cloth or scraping with a scraper/flexible spatula.
  • Step 2. Remove stubborn residues (if needed) - Use a pumice grill stone to take off stubborn grease and fat residues on PG series models, as needed. For MCG units with heavy residues, you may remove the plates and clean them with a wire brush/steel scrub pad, dish soap and water.
  • Step 3. Reseason the plates (if needed) - Evaluate the amount of burned-on residue; if the amount was significant, reseason the plates by applying oil and then turning the unit to the highest setting for 10 minutes.

Maintaining the Body

  • Step 1. Clean the body - Use warm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth to remove residues from the exterior surfaces, including the pins and thumbscrews. If there are especially thick or stubborn deposits, remove them with stainless steel cleaner and a soft cloth.
  • Step 2. Wipe the controls - Maintain the controls by wiping them with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Step 3. Rinse the exterior - Wipe away any remaining suds or residues with a damp cloth.
  • Step 4. Dry the body - Remove excess moisture with a clean cloth.

Washing the Grease Trap

  • Step 1. Empty the catch tray - Detach the grease trap and empty its contents.
  • Step 2. Clean the grease trap - Wash the catch tray with warm water and mild detergent, then rinse away any remaining residues or suds with plain water before drying with a soft cloth.
  • Step 3. Reinstall the catch tray - Return the grease trap to the machine.

Resuming Normal Use

  • Step 1. Plug in the machine - Connect the unit to power by plugging the power cord into the electrical outlet.
  • Step 2. Turn on the grill - Use the Power I/O switch to turn on the machine.
  • Step 3. Set the cooking temperature - Rotate the temperature control knob clockwise to the desired level.
  • Step 4. Resume normal operation - You may now use the unit normally.
