Hatco panini grills offer both dependability and durability, making them essential in many commercial kitchens. To maximize performance, proper use is key. If you need guidance, this set of Hatco panini grill operating instructions walks you through the process to help you achieve consistent results.

This information applies to PG digital and MCG manual series units, such as the PG14G-1 and MCG20G, respectively.

Preparing for Operation

  • Step 1. Plug in the unit - Connect the machine to power by pushing the power cord into an electrical outlet.
  • Step 2. Insert the grease trap - Make sure the grease trap is in the unit; if it isn’t, slide it into the front of the machine.
  • Step 3. Lower the top grill plate - Lower the top grill plate until it rests on the bottom plate to ensure the unit is fully closed.

Using the Grill

Preheating the Machine

  • Step 1. Power on the unit - Flip the Power I/O switch to turn on the grill.
  • Step 2. Set the temperature - Use the temperature control to adjust the setting, turning the knob clockwise to raise the temperature and counterclockwise to lower it. Once the unit starts heating, the Power and Heating indicator lights will be illuminated.
  • Step 3. Preheat the grill - Allow the unit to heat for about 20 minutes to reach operating temperature. When the machine reaches the desired temperature, the Heating indicator light will go dark.
  • Step 4. Open the unit - Lift the top grill plate to expose the cooking surface.
  • Step 5. Grease the plates - Brush a small amount of oil onto the top and bottom grill plates.

Grilling Food Product

  • Step 1. Load the machine - Place the food product onto the bottom grill plate.
  • Step 2. Close the grill - Lower the top grill plate onto the food product.
  • Step 3. Cook for the desired time - Keep the machine closed until the food product is cooked thoroughly.
  • Step 4. Unload the unit - Lift the upper plate and remove the food product once it’s done cooking.

Shutting Down the Machine

  • Step 1. Turn the temperature control to the zero setting - Rotate the temperature control knob counterclockwise until it reaches the off position.
  • Step 2. Clean the unit - Follow the daily cleaning procedures outlined in the user manual.
  • Step 3. Power down the machine (at end of day) - Use the Power I/O switch to turn off the unit and finalize daily operations.
