Hoshizaki Gear Motor & Chain Replacement Procedures
In the rare case issues pop up on a Hoshizaki ice machine, the gear motor and chain can be a root cause. This guide will help you give some background knowledge on removing and replacing both the gear motor and chain. While this is a manger-replaceable project, it can be a bit tricky. Before you start tinkering, it's important to know the makeup of a Hoshizaki ice machine's gear motor and chain. The assembly includes the following parts:
- Adjustment bolts
- Bolts
- Chain
- Sprocket
- Gear motor bracket
- Seal
How to Remove a Hoshizaki Gear Motor & Chain
Below is the procedure to remove and replace both components:
- Step 1. Turn the machine off - Start by powering down the unit and unplugging the power cord.
- Step 2. Remove the front and right side panel - Loosen the four bolts that secure the gear motor bracket and then loosen the adjustment bolt.
- Step 3. Remove the chain - Carefully take the chain off the assembly.
- Step 4. Remove the sprocket - Loosen the socket set screw that secures the sprocket, and then employ a gear puller to remove the sprocket.
- Step 5. Remove the old gear motor and add the new one - You’ll now be able to install a new gear motor to replace the broken unit.
- Step 6. Reassemble in reverse order - Reassemble the removed parts in the reverse order of the procedure, and turn on the power supply.
