Maybe more time than you’d like to admit has passed since you last thoroughly cleaned your Nemco slicer or replaced its blades. Perhaps it's a little sticky to the touch, or it’s looking a little seedy inside the trough. The cold hard truth is the manufacturer recommends cleaning your slicing unit after each use. If knowing how to take your Nemco slicer apart has been holding you back from giving it the TLC it deserves, not anymore! 

In this guide, we’ll dissect the question, how do you take apart a Nemco slicer? So the vegetables aren’t the only thing that has that polished look.
The steps below will work for the Easy Slicer models like 55200AN, 55200AN-1, 55200AN-8 and more.

How Do You Disassemble a Nemco Slicer?

Knowing how to take apart a Nemco slicer is important for keeping up to date with maintenance and cleaning. But how do you take apart a Nemco vegetable slicer? In this section, we’ll guide you through the process step by step for your Easy Slicer models:

  • Step 1. Unlock the shaft lock – Turn the shaft lock counterclockwise to release. If you’re having trouble identifying where this is located, you can find it on the trough to the left of the guard or refer to your Nemco user manual and parts diagram.
  • Step 2. Remove the slicing unit – Unlocking the shaft will release the slicing unit, so then you can go ahead and remove it from the trough.
  • Step 3. Lift off the guard – Now that the slicing unit has been set aside, you can easily remove the guard by lifting up.
  • Step 4. Remove the hinge pin and cover – Pull the hinge pin out and slide the cover off.
  • Step 5. Remove the push plate – Turn the push rod counterclockwisecounter clockwise to remove the push plate and rod.
  • Step 6. Remove the lock pin – You can find the lock pin on the mounting base.
  • Step 7. Remove the shaft lock – Pull the shaft lock assembly out completely.
  • Step 8. Clean and perform maintenance – With the Nemco food cutter finally dismantled, you can now thoroughly clean each component, as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

How to Reassemble A Nemco Slicer

Assembling the Nemco slicer together is just the reverse order you disassembled it. 

  • Step 1. Reinstall the shaft lock assembly - Slide the shaft lock back into place.
  • Step 2. Reinstall the lock pin - Fasten the lock pin in the mounting base.
  • Step 3. Reinstall the push plate and rod - Insert the push plate and rod into the unit.
  • Step 4. Reinstall the cover - Put the cover back into place and secure it with the hinge pin.
  • Step 5. Reinstall the guard - Place the guard back onto the unit.
  • Step 6. Reinstall the rotary slicing unit - Put the slicing unit back into place carefully.
