How to Clean a Bloomfield Coffee Maker

Bloomfield makes a wide variety of durable brewers for many types of commercial kitchens. Keeping these coffee machines properly cleaned and maintained not only improves performance, but it also keeps them in peak condition longer. Below are the necessary supplies and steps for cleaning a Bloomfield coffee maker daily.
Supplies You’ll Need
- Mild detergent
- Soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge
- Bristle brush
- Bottle brush
- Sight glass brush (satellite cleaning only)
- Sanitizer (satellite cleaning only)
- Bucket (satellite cleaning only)
Instructions for Satellite Coffee Brewers
The daily cleaning procedure below is for 9121 Single and 9221 Double Satellite Coffee Brewers.
Cleaning the Brewer
- Step 1. Turn off the machine – Press the power key to the “OFF” position. Let the machine cool down before you start cleaning.
- Step 2. Remove components – Start by removing the satellites and the brew baskets. Empty the brew baskets once they’ve been taken out. Then, remove the spray disks and gaskets from the spray heads.
- Step 3. Clean the spray heads – Dampen a clean, soft cloth or sponge in warm water. Wipe the interior of the spray head and the surrounding area.
- Step 4. Clean the spray disks –Wash the disks in a sink with warm water and mild detergent. If the spray holes are clogged, clear them out by scrubbing with a bristle brush.
- Step 5. Clean the brew baskets – Wash the baskets in a sink with warm water and mild detergent. Scrub around the bypass diverters using a bristle brush.
- Step 6. Clean the drip tray – Remove the drip tray from the brewer and rise it in a sink with warm water. Let it air dry before reinstalling.
- Step 7. Wipe down the exterior – Moisten a clean soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge in warm water. Use it to wipe down the exterior surfaces of the brewer.
- Step 8. Reinstall the detached components – Reinstall the gaskets inside the brew heads followed by the spray disks. Then, reinstall the brew chambers and satellites.
Cleaning the Satellite
- Step 1. Remove the satellites and lids – Remove and drain the satellites. Once you’re done draining, remove the lids.
- Step 2. Mix and add sanitizing solution – Put a packet of sanitizer into a bucket with 2.5 gallons of warm water. Pour about a gallon of the sanitizing solution into each satellite and wait two minutes before moving to step three.
- Step 3. Drain sanitizing solution – After two minutes have passed, drain the solution from the satellites into a bucket.
- Step 4. Remove and clean the faucet – Disassemble the faucet and scrub it clean with a sanitizing solution. Reassemble when finished.
- Step 5. Clean the sight glass (if necessary) – If needed, disassemble and clean the sight glass. Start by pushing down the ears on the sight glass guard. Pull the ears forward and lift the guard off of the retaining clip. Then, remove the sight glass tube from the elbow. Run the sight glass brush through the tube about 10 times. Reassemble the components by following the disassembly instructions in reverse.
- Step 6. Reinstall the lids and satellites – Reattached the lids. Then, reinstall the satellites on the machine.
- Step 7. Rinse the satellites – Place an empty brew chamber under the brew head and press the “BREW” key. Let the brewer run for one full cycle into each satellite. Drain the water when finished.
Instructions for Electronic Brew Control™ & Modular Brewers
The daily cleaning procedure below is for E.B.C. brewers as well as 8540/8541/8542/8543, 8571/8572/8573/8574 and 8718/8738 models.
- Step 1. Turn off the power – Turn off the brewer and disconnect it from electrical power. Let it cool down before you start cleaning.
- Step 2. Remove the decanters and brew chamber – Start by removing the decanters from the brewer. Then, remove the brew chamber and discard any coffee grounds.
- Step 3. Remove the spray disk and gasket – Remove the spray disk by pressing on the disk ears. Turn the disk to the left to unlatch it. Once the spray disk is detached, remove the gasket from inside the brew head.
- Step 4. Wipe down the brew head – Using a clean, dampened cloth or sponge, wipe the interior of the spray head and the surrounding area. Make sure to dampened the cloth or sponge in warm water.
- Step 5. Clean the spray disks – Wash the disks in a sink with warm water and mild detergent. If the spray holes are clogged, clear them out by scrubbing with a bristle brush.
- Step 6. Clean the brew chamber – Wash the chamber in a sink with warm water and mild detergent. Scrub around the bypass diverters using a bristle brush. Rinse the chamber in warm water and let it air dry.
- Step 7. Wipe down the warmer plates and exterior – Wipe down both the warmer plates and exterior surfaces of the brewer. Use a clean, soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge dampened in warm water.
- Step 8. Reinstall the detached components – Reinstall the gaskets inside the brew head followed by the spray disk. Then, reinstall the brew chamber.
- Step 9. Clean the decanters – Fill the decanters with soap and warm water before scrubbing the interior with a bottle brush. Empty the decanter and rinse with warm, clean water. Then, wipe down the exterior with a clean cloth or sponge moistened with warm water. Let the decanters air dry.
