Freshly-made pepperoni pizza - How to Clean a PizzaMaster Pizza Oven

Whether it’s pizza Friday or game day, pizza ovens see a lot of use and get messy in the process. Preventative maintenance and cleaning are an essential part of keeping appliances safe from build-up. Below we will show you how to clean a PizzaMaster electric oven, from daily to yearly cleaning and everything in between.

The cleaning guide is designed for PizzaMaster’s 350, 400, 450 and 550 series countertop ovens and 700, 800, and 900 series modular deck ovens

Supplies

Daily Cleaning

Always make sure that the oven is cooled down and cool to the touch on every surface before attempting any cleaning. Cleaning before it is fully cooled can be dangerous to operators.

  • Cleaning the glass - Before powering on the oven, spray non-caustic degreaser on a melamine foam sponge. Using the pad, dab the degreaser on the glass and let it sit for a few minutes. Once clean, wipe down the glass with a damp rag. Avoid cleaning the glass while the oven is hot or spraying the degreaser directly onto the glass. Failure to do so may result in the glass shattering or damage to the oven’s interior stones and metals.
  • Exterior cleaning - Once the oven has cooled down, use a non-abrasive sponge and solution of dish soap and water to wipe down the exterior of the pizza oven. Make sure to spray cleaner on the sponge and not in the oven. Dry with a soft cloth.
  • Brushing hearthstone - Using a brass brush without a scraper top, scrape out the bake deposit and soot throughout the day. Frequently brushing away deposits will help to prevent build-up in the machine. Avoid hitting the top elements.
  • Wiping down hearthstone - For an extra deep cleaning, use a lightly dampened cloth and wrap it around the brush head. Use this to wipe down and brush out the stone to get stuck-on soot or bake deposit.

Weekly Cleaning

The weekly PizzaMaster pizza oven cleaning procedure is similar to the daily one. Using a cleaning cloth, clean all the stainless steel surfaces while following with the grain. Don’t use the cleaning cloth on any of the glass, display, handles or labels to prevent any damage to the equipment.

Monthly Cleaning

It’s essential to lubricate the door bushings every month. This will help reduce any noise and also keep the door hinges lubricated and easy to open. Make sure that when you are selecting a lubricant, you choose a non-toxic, high temperature food grade one.

Yearly Cleaning

Vacuum oven chambers - Vacuuming the chamber is an essential yearly cleaning task. Remove the stones beforehand using a flat screwdriver. After those are out of the way, you can vacuum the chamber. Don’t forget to replace the stones back into the exact same location and position.

Clean ventilation outlets - Cleaning the soot and residue out from the ventilation outlets should be done at least once a year. Make sure to clean out the top and back ventilation outlets and always go with the grain on stainless steel.
