If you want to know how to properly clean a Vulcan fryer filter system, keep reading to find out:

  • Step 1. Uninstall the crumb basket – Once removed, empty the fryer debris into a trash can. Ensure the debris is sufficiently cooled before emptying, as it can melt plastic.
  • Step 2. Remove the crumb basket from the filter pan – To remove the crumb basket, you’ll have to loosen the thumb screws located on either side of the filter pan.
  • Step 3. Take out the filter screen assembly – With the crumb basket gone, you can now lift up the filter suction tube to remove the filter screen assembly.
  • Step 4. Scape fryer debris off the filter screen – Take a soft-bristled brush and scrape the filter screen over a trash can to remove any lingering fryer debris.
  • Step 5. Remove the filter insert – The filter insert is located inside the filter screen and is held in place by a clip. Remove the clip by lifting it up. You may have to use your fingers to widen the opening to remove the insert.
  • Step 6. Remove the filter pan – Loosen the thumbscrews located on either of the motor/pump assembly to remove it. Once done, you can now lift the filter pan off its cradle. If there is any remaining debris on the bottom of the pan, go ahead and empty it into the trash can now.
  • Step 7. Clean all parts – Put the crumb basket, filter pan, filter screen and filter insert into the dishwasher or clean with dishwashing detergent and fresh water. Before reinstalling the parts, be sure to thoroughly dry them with a clean cloth.
  • Step 8. Reassemble the filtration system – Once all the components are thoroughly dry and the filter screen is sporting a fresh microfiltration fabric envelope, go ahead and reinstall the filtration system, working in reverse order in which you took it apart.
