How to Operate a Nemco 6440 Popcorn Popper

Perfect popcorn can be tricky if you aren’t sure how to use a popcorn machine. Whether it is your first time using one or you just need a bit of a refresher, we can help you learn how to operate a Nemco 6440 popcorn popper so your kernels won’t burn. You will be able to serve up perfectly popped kernels, so people can just add the butter and salt and enjoy.


The following guide is for the Nemco 6440 popcorn popper and 6445 popper models. 

Popcorn Popper Operation

  • Step 1. Plug unit in - Check that the popper is plugged into a working outlet.
  • Step 2. Turn switches on - Turn the kettle and power switches on, then wait for the machine to preheat for 5 minutes.
  • Step 3. Measure out corn - Measure out the corn kernels and add seasoning to the corn.
  • Step 4. Measure out oil - Measure out the popping oil.
  • Step 5. Add oil to kettle - Lift open the kettle lid and add the oil first. Then add the seasoned corn and close the lid.
  • Step 6. Dump kettle - Once the popping stops, turn the kettle release shaft to dump the kettle.
  • Step 7. Upright kettle - Make sure to immediately return the kettle to the upright position. When not in use, turn off the kettle switch.
