Pouring delicious cold drinks fresh from the keg is a breeze. With just the pull of the tap, a fresh brew is dispensed. However, to get to this point, it requires some preparations. This guide will show you how to prep and tap a keg on a Perlick beer dispenser so you can keep the drinks flowing and customers happy.
How to Prep and Tap the Keg
Step 1. Turn off the faucets - Turn all the taps on the beer faucets to the OFF position.
Step 2. Inspect the coupler - Check to make sure the coupler is in the right position for tapping and that the seal is free of water.
Step 3. Inspect the keg’s ears - Check that the keg’s ears aren’t bent up.
Step 4. Attach the coupler - Place the coupler onto the keg.
Note. Make sure to line up the notches on the coupler with the keg ears.
Step 5. Turn the coupler - Rotate the coupler until it stops.
Step 6. Pull the lever - Tap the keg by pulling the lever back and pushing it down.
Step 7. Open the valve - Open the pressure relief valve.
