How to Properly Replace a PizzaMaster Halogen Oven Lamp
PizzaMaster halogen oven lamps are small yet powerful bulbs that are built to last. Although the expected lifetime of these lamps is 12 months, replacing the bulbs improperly can shorten their lifespan. If you want to get the most out of your equipment, this guide explains how to properly replace a PizzaMaster halogen oven lamp so you can extend the life of the part.
Parts & Supplies
In order to ensure the unit’s safety and performance, as well as not to invalidate the warranty, all part replacements must be carried out by skilled personnel. It’s also important to always wear gloves when handling the lamp since touching it with bare hands can shorten its lifespan.
Replacement Instructions
Pre-Installation Procedure
- Step 1. Turn off the oven - Power down the unit using the main switch.
- Step 2. Unplug the unit - Disconnect the power cord from the outlet in order to avoid electrical hazards.
- Step 3. Let the oven cool down - Since hot surfaces can cause burns, allow the oven to cool down before replacing the halogen lamp.
Removing the Old Halogen Lamp
- Step 1. Remove the lamp glass - Take off the lamp glass on the light house. Be gentle so as not to break the tabs on the bottom of the lamp glass (If the lamp glass is missing or broken, replace it immediately to protect the oven's electrical panel from damage).
- Step 2. Take out the lighthouse - Wedge your screwdriver between the top of the lighthouse and the frame so you can access the lamp.
- Step 3. Pull out the lighthouse - Take out the lighthouse by first pulling down and then out.
- Step 4. Remove the old halogen lamp - Take out the old lamp. Remember to wear gloves so you avoid touching the lamp with your bare fingers.
- Step 5. Check to see if the lamp has 2 pin legs - Make sure the 2 pin legs didn’t break off and get stuck in the socket. If the pin legs are stuck in the socket, you’ll need to replace the lamp socket, too.
Installing the New Halogen Lamp
- Step 1. Put copper on the pin legs - Squeeze a small amount of copper onto the pin legs of the new halogen lamp.
- Step 2. Insert the new halogen lamp - Place the new lamp in the socket.
- Step 3. Reinstall the lighthouse - Replace the lighthouse by first inserting the bottom into the frame and then pushing in the top. Then, use the tip of a screwdriver to push in the top of the lighthouse so it snaps firmly into place.
- Step 4. Reinstall the lamp glass - Finish the installation procedure by returning the lamp glass to its proper position. Reinstall the glass gently so you don’t damage the tabs, and make sure they're set properly so the glass is held in place.
Resuming Normal Operation
- Step 1. Plug in the unit - Once the new halogen lamp is installed, plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
- Step 2. Turn the unit on - Then, turn on the unit and resume normal operation.
