How to Reset a Daikin Air Conditioner
If you’ve noticed that the air conditioner is not operating as intended, making unusual noises, or water is leaking from the indoor unit, you can try resetting it before making that call to an authorized service technician. There are a couple different ways to reset your AC via the remote control or the unit itself. Without further ado, we’ll teach you how to reset your Daikin air conditioner in the guide below.
How to Reset a Daikin Air Conditioner Without a Remote
There may come a time when you must reset your Daikin air conditioning unit without the aid of the remote controller. It could be that you lost the remote between the couch cushions or that it needs new batteries. Or that the On/Off button of the main unit or remote controller does not work. Whatever the reason, there are two ways to reset a Daikin air conditioner without its remote:
- Step 1. Unplug the power cord – If you can’t find your remote or the remote is not working, you can always cut power to the unit the old-fashioned way. Unplug the unit and wait a full minute or two before plugging it back in. This should cause the system to reset itself.
- Step 2. Turn off the circuit breaker – Alternatively, you may flip the circuit breaker switch for the air conditioner and wait a full minute before flipping it back on.

Pressing the On/Off Button

- Step 1. Press the on/off button on the Daikin remote – press and hold the on/off button for a couple of seconds.
- Step 2. Press it a second time – To turn off the air conditioner, you’ll have to press and hold the on/off button again for 2-3 seconds.
- Step 3. Press it a third time – Wait a few minutes before pressing the on/off button again to turn the unit back on. When it turns back on, you should notice that all error codes have been cleared, and you can now use the remote freely again.
Pressing the Reset Button
On some Daikin remotes, there’s a small reset button located near the bottom of the remote. Take the reset key that came with the remote to press and hold for a few seconds. This will trigger a factory reset, causing it to return to manufacturer settings.
Taking Out the Batteries
If your remote is frozen, the display is not clear, working well, or turning on, the easiest thing you can do to reset it is to take out the batteries. Wait a few minutes before returning them or replacing them with new ones. Batteries only last about a year in a Daikin remote, so if it’s coming up on that one-year mark, this may be the troubleshooting tip that does the trick. Also, please note that the manufacturer recommends only using alkaline batteries.
Can I Operate Daikin AC without the Remote?
Yes, you can operate a Daikin AC without its remote, although the operation mode and fan speed will default to “automatic.” All you have to do to operate the air conditioner is press the “On/Off” button on the main unit.
