How to Season an AccuTemp Griddle
Your AccuTemp griddle is a workhorse in your commercial kitchen. From flipping burgers to flapjacks, toasting bread or grilling up some veggies. One of the most important preventative maintenance tasks to help keep your griddle performing as it should is to season it regularly. Seasoning will not only help keep your griddle surface stick-resistant and protected from mild damage, it’ll also give your dishes an excellent flavor. Learn how to properly season your AccuTemp griddle with the step-by-step guide below.
This guide is for the Accu-Steam line of griddles.
AccuTemp Griddle Seasoning Instructions
- Step 1—Turn your griddle on to a typical cooking temperature you would use.
- Step 2—Allow your griddle to heat up for at least 10 minutes.
- Step 3—Pour enough onto the griddle surface to cover it. It’s recommended that you use a high-heat cooking oil like Pan and Grill Shortening, Whirl or fryer oil. Don’t use vegetable oil to season your griddle.
- Step 4—With a heavy-duty scratch pad and a long-handled pad holder, work the oil into the griddle surface. Do this for several minutes and make sure the oil gets onto the entire surface.
- Step 5—Let the oil sit on the griddle surface for 2 minutes, then squeegee the oil off.
When Should You Season Your AccuTemp Griddle?
Your griddle should be seasoned after you’ve thoroughly cleaned it with a chemical cleaner at the end of the day or as needed. This will replenish the protective oil surface to make cooking safe and efficient.
