Americans are estimated to drink 400 million cups of coffee per day, and naturally, you want in on some of that action. You’ve just unpacked your brand new Bunn coffee maker, and you can’t wait to get started or maybe even partake in some of that liquid gold yourself. But before that intoxicatingly rich and smoky aroma can waft through the halls of your coffee house, restaurant, or other fine dining establishments, there are a few things you’ll need to do before you can brew that first pot. Learn how to set up a Bunn coffee maker for the first time in the steps below.
How to Set up a Commercial Bunn Coffee Maker
First things first, it’s extremely important that you do not plug in or turn on your Bunn coffee maker before completing these next steps. Doing so could damage your machine and void the warranty before you’ve even gotten a chance to use it.
- Step 1. Insert the brew funnel – Before you can make that first body-jolting cup of joe, you’ll need to slide the empty brew funnel (without the filter) into place above the coffee pot.
- Step 2. Fill the water reservoir with cold water – It’s easiest to first fill the coffee pot with cold water up to the fill line and then pour it into the water reservoir. Depending on the model of Bunn Coffee maker you have, you might have to slide or lift open the lid. After adding water, close the lid and wait 3-4 minutes for the internal tank to fill. And that’s how you fill the water reservoir on a Bunn coffee maker!
- Step 3. Fill the water reservoir again – Following the same procedures as step 3, repeat the process of filling the coffee pot and water reservoir with cold water. Return the coffee pot to the base plate.
- Step 4. Wait until water stops flowing – The goal is to completely fill the reservoir. This means that some water will overflow into the pot. Once it’s stopped, toss out the overflow water and return the coffee pot to the base plate.
- Step 5. Plug in the Bunn coffee maker – Now, you can go ahead and plug in and turn on your Bunn coffee maker. The on/off switch is located on the side of the brewer. Wait 15 minutes for your Bunn coffee machine to heat up.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully learned how to set up a Bunn coffee maker! Here’s to enjoying that first hard-earned cup of joe!
