How to Use a Crathco Soft-Serve Ice Cream Machine
Luckily, using a Crathco soft-serve ice cream machine is not a hard thing to learn. Just follow these steps, and you’ll soon be dishing it out to customers and competitors alike:
- Step 1. Dilute and mix the product – In a separate container, mix the product with water. Wait approximately 10 minutes for the product to set before pouring it into the Crathco ice cream machine. Just ensure the compression or air regulation pipe is not connected before introducing the new product.
- Note: Never use product mixes that aren’t specifically designed for soft serve, as this could damage the machine.
- Step 2. Remove the lid and pour the mix into the top tank – Before you can do anything else, remove the tank lid and set it aside. When starting a new batch, it’s recommended to only introduce approximately 1 liter of mix into the freezing cylinder.
- Step 3. For Karma Models: Insert the compression pipe between the freezing cylinder and the pump – Before adding the rest of the mix, you’ll have to screw the compression tube into the freezing cylinder, which is the hole located in the center of the ice cream machine, and the other end into the pump.
- Step 3. For K-Soft Models: Close the air regulation pipe – Before adding the rest of the mix, you’ll have to insert the air regulation pipe into the hole located in the center of the Crathco ice cream machine. In some models, you might have to rotate it clockwise to lock it into place.
- Step 4. Pour the rest of the mix into the upper tank – Taking the remainder of the mix, pour it into the upper tank. Don’t forget to put the lid back on!
- Step 5. Turn on the unit – Plug in the Crathco soft serve machine and press the main power button.
- Step 6. Select the desired setting on the control panel – Using the + and - buttons, choose how thick or thin you want the end product to be.
- Step 7. Activate cooling mode – Next, you’ll need to activate cooling mode for the liquid mix to transform into the ice cream that we all know and love. To do this, press the power button again.
- Note: Always pour in the mix before activating the cooling mode, as this could damage your Crathco soft-serve ice cream machine.
- Step 8. Wait until the LEDs stop flashing – Although you might be anxious to start swirling your ice cream cones, you’ll have to wait until the LEDs stop flashing, indicating the product has reached the desired temperature and consistency.
- Note: If this is the first time the soft serve unit has ever been used, you might have to adjust the height of the air regulation pipe. Increasing the height will allow more product to enter the freezing chamber at once, changing the consistency and the bulk.
- Step 9. Order up! – Place an ice cream cone or dish beneath the dispenser, pull down the tap, and swirl, swirl, swirl!

To reduce the consistency of your ice cream, press the - key on the control panel. You can keep track of the consistency levels with the LED bar on the display, which will decrease in correspondence with how many times you press the - button.
How to Activate Defrost Mode on a Crathco Soft-Serve Ice Cream Machine?
To activate the defrost mode, press the - key until the LED display bar goes out and the power button light turns on.
How to Activate Wash Mode on a Crathco Soft-Serve Ice Cream Machine?
To activate the wash mode, you first need to turn off the cooling mode. To do this, press the power button until the LED light turns off. Now you can go ahead and press the WASH button to initiate its self-cleaning protocol.
