How to Use a Robot Coupe R2
The Robot Coupe R2 combination food processor chops, grates, purees and juliennes a wide range of foods with ease, making it a great labor-saving addition to any commercial kitchen. If you want to make the most of your equipment, this guide on how to use a Robot Coupe R2 explains how to assemble and operate your unit easily and efficiently.
These instructions are for R2N and R2N Ultra models.
Assembly Directions
Make sure the machine is powered off and unplugged before assembly. Also, be sure to wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the blade or cutting plates. For information on how to reverse these directions, see our article on how to disassemble a Robot Coupe R2.
Cutter Bowl Attachment
- Step 1. Attach the bowl - Place the cutter bowl on the motor base with the handle on the left and just off center, then turn it counterclockwise to lock it into position.
- Step 2. Insert the blade - Put the blade on the motor shaft, and then rotate it until it falls into place.
- Step 3. Put on the lid - Position the lid on top of the bowl with the ramp turned to the center left. Once the lid is on the unit, turn the ramp to the right until the lid locks into position.
Continuous Feed Attachment
- Step 1. Attach the continuous feed attachment - Place the continuous feed attachment on the motor base with the discharge chute at the back. Lock it into position by first turning it slightly clockwise, then back counterclockwise.
- Step 2. Install the discharge plate - Put the discharge plate on the motor shaft, rotating it until it falls into the correct position.
- Step 3. Insert the cutting plate - Position the desired cutting plate on the discharge plate, then turn it until it drops into place.
- Step 4. Mount the continuous feed lead - Secure the continuous feed lead on the continuous feed attachment, making sure that the ramp is in alignment with the safety switch. Lock the lead into place by turning it slightly clockwise, then counterclockwise.
- Step 5. Position the pusher - Insert the vertical and/or horizontal pusher into their corresponding openings on the continuous feed lead.
Operating Instructions
Use the cutter bowl attachment for chopping and pureeing or the continuous feed attachment for slicing, grating and julienning. In order to extend the working life of your unit, allow the motor to rest for the same amount of time that it runs on any given day, as well as to clean your food processor after each use.
Cutter Bowl Instructions
Chopping
- Step 1. Prepare food product for processing - Cut vegetables, meats or soft cheeses into 1 to 2-inch (2.54 to 5.08CM) blocks, hard cheeses into 1 to 1-1/2-inch (2.54 to 3.81CM) chunks and hard vegetables like onions, celery and cabbage into 2 to 3-inch (5.08 to 7.62CM) pieces.
- Step 2. Add food product to the bowl - Fill the cutter bowl 2/3 to 3/4 full with prepared product. If chopping hard cheeses, don’t add more than 1-1/2 pounds (0.68KG) to the unit.
- Step 3. Pulse the food product - Press the “PULSE” button until the desired consistency is reached.
- Step 4. Power down the machine - Turn off the unit by pressing the “OFF” button.
- Step 5. Utilize the prepared items - Remove the bowl and use the chopped food accordingly.
Pureeing, Fine Chopping or Emulsifying
- Step 1. Turn food product into 1 to 1-1/2-inch chunks - Cut vegetables, cheeses or other items into (2.54 to 3.81CM) squares.
- Step 2. Put food product in the bowl - Fill the cutter bowl 2/3 to 3/4 full with product.
- Step 3. Process the food product - Start processing the product by pressing the “PULSE” button to cut down the chunks into smaller pieces. Then, press the “ON” button, and allow the machine to run until the food achieves the intended consistency.
- Step 4. Turn off the unit - Power down the food processor by pressing the “OFF” button.
- Step 5. Use the processed foods - Take off the bowl and incorporate the pureed or chopped foods into recipes as needed.
Continuous Feed Directions
- Step 1. Choose a cutting plate - Select the plate with the right slicing, grating or julienne thickness. The R211 is the best all-purpose slicing plate, the R209 is the most commonly used grating plate and R288 is the most popular julienne plate. Refer to the user’s manual for more information on which plate is best for the job.
- Step 2. Select the right feed chute - Use the vertical feed chute when processing long, narrow vegetables (carrots, cucumbers) into small pieces. Opt for the horizontal feed chute when cutting larger items (potatoes, onions) into large pieces. Long, narrow items may also be placed in the horizontal feed chute if you want to make long, thin slices.
- Step 3. Place a container under the discharge chute - Put a bowl, tray or other container under the discharge chute to collect processed food as it leaves the unit.
- Step 4. Load the food processor - Place foods to be processed in the machine by passing them through the selected chute.
- Step 5. Insert the pusher - Place the pusher into the selected feed chute opening.
- Step 6. Process the food product - Press the “ON” button to begin cutting the food items. Remember to apply a small amount of pressure with the pusher to ensure more consistent results.
- Step 7. Turn off the unit - Power down the unit by pressing the “OFF” button once all the food product has been processed.
- Step 8. Utilize the food product - Use the sliced, grated or julienned items in recipes as desired.
