Setting up a new fryer is easy! Once you get things installed in the right spot, follow our guide to learn how to use a Southbend fryer. You’ll get the hang of it in no time. This guide covers how to use a Southbend tube fryer, such as the GFS35 model.

How to Use a Southbend Fryer: Instructions

Before you get started using your Southbend fryer, make sure you fill it with oil or solid shortening to the preferred levels. Once you do this, follow these instructions to get your fryer up and running:

  • Step 1. Open the burner compartment door.
  • Step 2. Turn the thermostat to OFF.
  • Step 3. Press down the knob of the combination gas valve and turn it to the PILOT position.
  • Step 4. While pressing the knob down, use a match to ignite the pilot and hold the button down for 30 seconds and release it.
    • Note: If the pilot light didn’t stay lit, repeat Step 4 until it does.
  • Step 5. Once the pilot light stays ignited, turn the knob counterclockwise to the ON position without pushing it down.
