InSinkErator Hot Water Dispenser Troubleshooting

InSinkErator’s line of hot water dispensers provides a convenient way to get hot water instantly. If anything seems off with your unit though, you’ll want to fix it fast. In the event that you’ve found an issue with your InSinkerator hot water dispenser, troubleshoot it quickly with the tips below.
This guide is applicable for H-HOT150, H778 and C1300 models.
Problem: Water isn’t hot
Possible Causes
- Unit isn’t plugged in
- Issue with outlet
Solutions
- Check that the unit is plugged in
- Check connection at outlet
Problem: Water is too hot or not hot enough
Possible Cause
- Thermostat isn’t correctly adjusted to your setting
Solution
- Slowly adjust the temperature, then turn on the faucet for 5-7 minutes to let it reach temperature
Problem: Water and steam spit out from spout without turning on the faucet
Possible Cause
- Unit is boiling, which may occur during initial setup.
Solutions
- Turn on faucet to release some water from the tank
- Adjust water temperature on the water tank
Problem: Water comes out of the vent instead of the spout
Possible Cause
- Outlet tube is blocked
Solutions
- Check the outlet tube for kinks in the line
- Unscrew the spout end piece and clean out any debris
Problem: Water is dripping from the spout or vent intermittently
Possible Causes
- Low water pressure in expansion chamber
- Blockage in spout
Solutions
- Unplug the unit and wait a few minutes to see if the dripping stops. If the dripping doesn’t stop within that time, check the supply valve to make sure it’s fully open and that there aren’t any blockages.
- Unscrew the spout end piece and clean out any debris
Problem: Water is dripping from the spout or vent constantly
Possible Cause
- Water line is blocked by debris
Solutions
- Unscrew the spout end piece and clean out any debris
- Turn the faucet off and on about 7-10 times to flush the faucet and lines
Problem: Color of water looks odd or rusty
Possible Cause
- Corrosion
Solution
- Proceed with the Seasonal Storage/Drainage instructions within your operator’s manual. If the water is still discolored, contact an authorized service technician.
