No matter if you’re looking for a replacement part or are just curious to learn more about your particular unit, you’ll need the serial number. With our Lennox serial number lookup guide, you can find the exact information you need.

Serial Numbering System

Lennox serial numbers always start off with a 4-digit number followed by a letter, a space and a 5-digit number. Below, we’re providing a breakdown of what these numbers and letters mean when it comes to your unit’s serial number. For example’s sake, let’s use the serial number 5178M 99989.

  • The first 4-digit number – The first half of this number is the division of the unit. This is where the unit was manufactured. The second half of the number is the year it was manufactured. Example: 5178 equals the 51st division in 1978.
  • The letter – The letter at the end of the first half of the number stands for the month. Each month is designated a letter of the alphabet from A through M. In this case, the M stands for the month of December.
  • The second set of numbers – The second set of numbers is the unit’s serial number. This sets it apart from other units.
