Moffat Turbofan proofers have a large capacity, straightforward interface and sleek design, so they’re sure to be valuable assets wherever they’re located. Although these units are very reliable, occasional issues are inevitable. If something’s wrong with your unit, this Moffat Turbofan proofer troubleshooting guide will help you identify and resolve the problem quickly.

This information is for E87 proofer and E89M proofer/holding cabinet models.

Proofer Doesn’t Start / Won’t Turn On

  • Unit is turned off - Use the power switch to turn the unit on.
  • Proofer isn’t plugged in - Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet.
  • Power switch is faulty - Call an authorized technician to remedy the issue.
  • Incorrect power supply - Contact a licensed electrician to address the issue.
  • Fuse is blown or circuit breaker is off/tripped - Reset the circuit breaker. If issues persist, schedule an appointment with a licensed electrician.

Light Isn’t Working

  • Bulb is blown - Replace the bulb.

Fan Not Working

  • Fan is faulty - Schedule an appointment with an authorized technician to service the unit.

Proofer Not Heating

  • Thermostat is defective - Call a licensed technician to remedy the issue.
  • Element is blown - Contact an authorized technician to address the issue.

Temperature Control Not Working

  • Thermostat is faulty - Schedule a service appointment with an authorized technician.

Unit Has No Humidity

  • No water in the trough - Fill the trough with water.
  • Thermostat is faulty - Speak with an authorized technician to schedule a service appointment.
  • Element is blown - Call a licensed technician to address the issue.
  • Unit is in “HOLD” mode (E89M units only) - Turn the control knob to “PROOF” mode so that the humidity function can operate.

Machine Has No Humidity Control

  • Thermostat is defective - Call an authorized technician to service the unit.

Recovery Is Slow

  • Proofer is overloaded - Reduce the batch size to avoid overloading the proofer.
  • Door was opened frequently - Don’t open the door unnecessarily.
  • Electrical supply is incorrect - Contact a licensed technician to address the issue.
  • Fan is faulty - Speak with an authorized technician to schedule a service appointment.
  • Power or function switch is faulty (E89M units in “HOLD” mode only) - Reach out to a licensed technician and arrange a service call.
  • Element is defective (E89M units in “HOLD” mode only) - Call an authorized technician to remedy the issue.

No Heating/Humidity Indicator

  • Indicator is faulty - Call an authorized technician to remedy the issue.

Condensation On Top Of Frame

  • Hot wire is faulty - Schedule a service appointment with a licensed technician.

Door Doesn’t Close Properly

  • Tray is in the way - Position the tray correctly.
  • Door is defective - Check the door for faulty hinges, a damaged magnet and other possible defects. If damage is preventing the door from closing properly, replace the door.
