Knowing how to shut down your commercial kitchen equipment safely and properly is vital, especially if your equipment needs to be shut down for an extended period of time. This is especially true for your Norlake refrigeration equipment. Learn the proper shutdown and restart procedures for your Norlake equipment in the step-by-step guide below.

Norlake Cabinet Shutdown Instructions

  • Step 1. Disconnect power to the unit.
  • Step 2. Clean and sanitize the interior and exterior.

If your remote refrigeration walk-in has outdoor condensing units, each system will have two breakers and one for the walk-in.

  • Step 1. Turn off the power to the evaporator section breaker on either the top of the walk-in or the one hanging inside. Let the condensing unit pump down for 5 minutes and then turn off.
  • Step 2. Find and turn off the breaker to the condensing unit.
  • Step 3. Remove all food product from inside the walk-in interior.
  • Step 4. Thoroughly clean and sanitize the interior of the walk-in.

  • Step 6. Prop the doors open so they won’t close accidentally. This prevents condensation from forming on the inside of the unit, which could cause mold and mildew.
