Pitco Pasta Cooker Preventative Maintenance & Cleaning
Routine cleaning and maintenance is the key to keeping appliances running stronger for longer. Make sure you are sticking to a schedule and keeping up with daily, monthly and annual preventative maintenance. Below we will help you through some essential Pitco pasta cooker preventative maintenance and cleaning procedures that you should keep track of, so your cooker can stay maintained.
Daily Cleaning
Inspection
Make sure to frequently check the following:
- Check that high temperature limit and probe are secured and in the correct position
- Make sure all gas and electrical connections aren’t loose or damaged
- Check for loose parts or accessories that should be secured or obstacles that need removing
- Drain lines and the water supply should be checked for water leaks
Cleaning the Cook Tank
- Step 1—Turn off the unit.
- Step 2—Scrub the tank, baskets, basket hanger and temperature probe using an abrasive scrub pad and a food contact-safe cleaner. Make sure to remove all foreign material on the tank and components.
- Step 3—Thoroughly rinse the inside of the tank with cool water, and repeat at least twice to ensure that all of the cleaner has been completely rinsed.
Cleaning the Cabinet
- Step 1—Wipe down the interior of the cabinet with a clean, dry cloth. This will help remove any residue, oil and dust.
- Step 2—Clean the outside of the cabinet with a wet cleaning cloth and mild detergent, making sure to not get any detergent into the tank or food contact areas.
Monthly Preventative Maintenance
De-Liming
The Pitco pasta cookers should be delimed at least once a month or more depending on frequency of use.
- Step 1—Follow the manufacturer’s directions on how to properly use the deliming cleaner.
- Step 2—Once cleaning is complete, thoroughly rinse the inside of the tank and all components with cool water. Repeat at least twice to ensure that all of the cleaner has been completely rinsed.
- Step 3—Wipe out all of the water with a clean, dry cloth.
- Step 4—If your unit has a rinse tank, follow the same deliming procedure.
Annual Preventative Maintenance
Annually checking components and essential parts is important for preventative maintenance. Check once a year, if not more frequently, that the following don’t have any leaks, disconnections, corrosion and are functional:
- Temperature Probe & High Limit Probe
- Controller
- Control Box & Electrical Components
- Tank
- Drain System
- Gas Combustion
