Primus Laundry produces quality commercial washing and drying equipment for your business. In the rare instance that your washer displays an error or failure code, you’ll need to know what the cause is to solve the issue quickly. Below we have compiled common error codes that may appear for your Primus washing machine.

This guide is applicable for P6 and P7 Professional Washer Extractor models.

Failure 1: Drain Failure (Not During Final Sequence)

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the unit detects that the water hasn’t drained after 3 minutes while in a drain or spin cycle.

Solutions

  • Check the drain tube for blockages.
  • Check the drain valve. If damaged, have replaced.
  • Have the wiring inspected and repaired if necessary.
  • Check the pump for any damage or faults. Have repaired or replaced if necessary.

Failure 2: Drain Failure (During Final Sequence)

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the unit detects that the water hasn’t drained after 3 minutes while it’s in the last spin or drain cycle.

Solutions

  • Check the drain tube for blockages.
  • Check the drain valve. If damaged, have replaced.
  • Have the wiring inspected and repaired if necessary.
  • Check the pump for any damage or faults. Have repaired or replaced if necessary.

Failure 3: Out of Balance (Before Spin Cycle)

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the out of balance sensor is tripped before the spin cycle has started. Because of this, the washer won’t spin.

Solutions

  • Check the out of balance switch to see if it’s broken. Have it inspected and repaired/replaced if necessary.
  • Check to see if the out of balance switch is in the correct position. If not, have it adjusted.
  • Have the wiring inspected and repaired if necessary.

Failure 4: Out of Balance (During Normal Spin Cycle)

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the unit hasn’t been loaded properly and cannot redistribute the laundry to balance it out. The unit will try to redistribute the laundry up to 10 times before it skips the spin cycle.

Solutions

  • Check the out of balance switch to see if it’s broken. Have it inspected and repaired/replaced if necessary.
  • Make sure that the drum is fully loaded prior to starting a wash cycle. Smaller loads can lead to an unbalanced drum.
  • Have the wiring inspected and repaired if necessary.

Failure 5: Out of Balance (During High Spin Cycle)

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the out of balance sensor is tripped during a high spin cycle. If this occurs, it may indicate that there is a mechanical defect with your unit.

Solutions

  • Check the out of balance switch to see if it’s broken. Have it inspected and repaired/replaced if necessary.
  • Check the springs on the washing drum and have repaired or replaced if necessary.
  • Have the wiring inspected and repaired if necessary.

Failure 11: Fill Failure

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the water level has not reached the necessary level for the cycle setting.

Solutions

  • Check to make sure that the external water inlet valves are open. If they aren’t, be sure to open them.
  • Check for any blockages in the water inlet valves. Clean them if they are dirty.
  • Issue with the coil of the water inlet valve. Have repaired or replaced if necessary.
  • Make sure the drain valve isn’t blocked or broken. If it’s damaged, have it replaced.
  • Ensure that the rubber hose is properly mounted on the electronic level sensor and on the drain valve. If it’s not, adjust its position.
  • Have the hose on the electronic sensor checked to see if it’s airtight. If it isn’t, it will need to be replaced.
  • The air tube may contain water. If it does, have it drained.
  • Issue with the wiring: have the wiring checked and repaired if necessary.
  • Issue with the output relay: have the component replaced.

Failure 13: Heating Failure

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the temperature cannot be reached within 37°F/3°C in a 10 minute timeframe.

  • For HE = on: wait for heat selected => fault message 13 can occur
  • For HE = oFF: no wait for heat selected => fault message 13 will not occur

Solutions

  • Heating contactor may not be activated. Have it repaired or replaced.
  • Heating resistors may not be heating. Have them repaired or replaced.
  • Issue with the heating contactor or its output relay. Have it repaired or replaced.

Failure 14: Heating Time Failure

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the temperature hasn’t reached the set temperature after 75 minutes when the unit is set to “Wait for Heat.”

Solutions

  • Heating resistors aren’t heating as they should. Have them repaired or replaced.
  • Check to make sure the water temperature isn’t too low. Adjust the temperature if needed.
  • Possible issue with the temperature sensor. Have it replaced.

Failure 16: Coin Drop 1 is Blocked

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the coin drop 1 input is blocked for more than 5 seconds.

Solutions

  • Issue with the well function of coin drop one. Have inspected and replaced if necessary.
  • Issue with the wiring. Have inspected and repaired if necessary.

Failure 17: Coin Drop 2 is Blocked

Possible Cause

This error code appears when the coin drop 2 input is blocked for more than 5 seconds.

Solutions

See Solutions for Failure 16.

Failure 99: Safety Error

Possible Cause

This error code appears to warn the user that the door shouldn’t or cannot be opened as a safety precaution. The lower display will show the temperature instead of “Err.”

NOTE: The washer unit won’t allow you to open the door if there is still water in the tub still, if the temperature is too hot or if the wash/spin cycle is interrupted.

Solution

Wait until the temperature has reached a safe level, then perform a manual intervention. This entails accessing the key switch in setup mode, then pressing the SET button. If this fails, contact an authorized service technician.
