The worst has happened: You’ve turned on–or at least tried to turn on–your EHB, DHB or modular holding bin, and things aren’t working. What do you do when your holding unit won’t heat or turn on? Or even more confusing, what do the flashing messages on the display screen or timer bar mean?

DHB and EHB Series Troubleshooting

No Power

  • Power is in the OFF position 
  • Power cord is not plugged in
  • Turn power switch to the ON position
  • Make sure power cord is plugged in to the right outlet


Unit will not heat

  • Wrong power cord in use 
  • There is a loose connection on the power switch and/or heater

Please contact an authorized service technician


Unit heats but timer bar does not work

  • The timer bar wiring was disconnected 
  • Timer bar does not work

Please contact an authorized service technician


Unit under/overheats

Check the temperature settings

Please contact an authorized service technician


OPN and REL displays on screen

  • There’s an open relay
  • The circuit does not work 
  • The heater does not work

Please contact an authorized service technician


SHR and REL

  • There’s a shorted relay 
  • The circuit doesn’t work 
  • The heater is open 
  • The ribbon cable is unplugged

Please contact an authorized service technician


HHH displays on screen while heater is hot

Temperature is above 300℉Please contact an authorized service technician


HTR HIGH


Message appears if heater is above 285℉ for longer than 20 min

Message disappears when temperature is back in range. If not, please contact an authorized service technician.


HTR LOW

Message appears if temperature falls 15℉ below setpoint

Message disappears when temperature is back in range. If not, please contact an authorized service technician.


HOLD displays on screen

  • Only for 3X4 Bin display boards
  • Operator changes bin address
  • Unit is being calibrated

Message will display when operator is done making changes


WAIT displays on screen

The operator is making changes to the product profile when in stand alone mode

Message will disappear when operator is done making changes


INIT displays on screen

Operator is switching unit from Kitchen Minder to stand alone mode

Message will disappear once Bin learns Kitchen Minder menus


COMM DOWN displays on timer bar

Bin is not communicating with Kitchen Minder

  • Power switch is in the OFF position 
  • Power cord is not plugged in 
  • Cover or end cap is missing or not connected


  • Turn power switch to the ON position 
  • Make sure the power cord is plugged into the correct outlet 
  • Tighten the 3 screws on the module and cover and make sure the end cap is present on the right side of the last base


Units will not heat/power on


Units are not securely connected


  • Tighten the 3 screws on the module cover and make sure the end cap is present on the right side of the last base. 
  • Check and tighten the screws holding the bases together, and make sure the expansion bases are powering on


Unit will not heat
Unit heats but the display does not work


  • Wrong power cord is in use 
  • There is a loose connection on the power switch and/or heater

Unit heats but the display does not work


  • Timer bar wiring is disconnected 
  • Module unit does not work

The heater is open and/or the heating relay is shorted or closed

The heater is open and/or the heating relay is shorted or closed

Recover Error


The set point temperature was not reached in time

E06

Non-Volatile Memory Error


The memory was corrupted in the main base

E07

Configuration Error


The unit was unable to set configuration during power up

E08

USB File Upload Error


The USB file was corrupted and could not be uploaded


E09, E10, E11, E12, E13, E14, E15
