Schaerer Coffee Club Descaling
The Schaerer Coffee Club offers the extensive menu, intuitive design and reliable performance needed to meet the demands of busy foodservice environments. Since product quality and unit longevity are important for any food business, keeping your equipment free of mineral deposits is essential. If you’re looking for guidance on how to do this, these Schaerer Coffee Club descaling instructions will help make the process as easy as possible.
Supplies
- Warm Water
- Calcpure Liquid Descaler (2 bottles, 0.2GA/0.75L each)
- Container (1.3GA/5L capacity to catch rinse water)
Advance through the descaling program by pressing the arrow at the bottom of the screen after completing each step outlined in this article. While the program duration varies with water hardness, it generally takes about 80 minutes, so plan accordingly, as stopping the demineralizing process mid-cycle isn’t recommended.
Accessing the Program
Ensure the unit is installed properly before descaling it.
- Step 1. Check the power connection - Make sure the machine is connected to a power source; if it isn’t, plug the power cord into an outlet.
- Step 2. Turn on the unit (if needed) - Use the ON/OFF switch on the right side of the control panel to power on the machine if it’s currently off.
- Step 3. Access the Main Menu - Open the Main Menu by tapping the 3 lines in the upper-left corner of the screen.
- Step 4. Enter the Care Menu - Tap the Care icon in the upper-left corner to access the Care Menu.
- Step 5. Choose the Descaling option - Begin the decalcifying process by selecting the Descaling option and following the on-screen prompts to advance through the program.
Cooling Down the Unit
Avoid contact with water, steam and areas of the machine near the spout since these will be hot and may cause injury.
- Step 1. Position the collection container under the spout - Place a catch container below the dispense spout to collect rinse water.
- Step 2. Connect the milk hose - Attach the milk hose and adaptor to the hot water spout.
- Step 3. Discharge hot water and steam - Allow the unit to expel hot water and steam through the dispense spout to cool down the system. Wait until the discharge stops before proceeding.
- Step 4. Discard the water - Remove the catch container, pour out the water and set it aside.
Descaling the Machine
Be aware that use of non-approved chemicals may not only damage your machine but also invalidate the warranty.
- Step 1. Remove the water reservoir - Take out the internal water tank.
- Step 2. Empty the water tank - Discard any water that’s in the reservoir.
- Step 3. Add descaling chemicals to the water tank - Fill the reservoir with 2 bottles of Calcpure descaler and 1 bottle of water (0.2GA/0.75L).
- Step 4. Reinsert the water tank and reposition catch container - Reinstall the filled water tank and place the empty collection container on the drip tray again.
- Step 5. Begin the descaling cycle - Follow the prompts on the display to start descaling the machine.
- Step 6. Discard the rinse water - Remove the collection container and dispose of the rinse water.
- Step 7. Empty and reinstall the drip tray - Remove the drip tray, pour out any water and return the tray to the unit.
Rinsing the Unit
Be sure to flush out any remaining demineralizing chemicals or rinse water to ensure the safety and quality of beverages.
- Step 1. Rinse out the water tank - Use fresh water to wash out any remaining descaling liquid in the reservoir.
- Step 2. Fill and reinsert the reservoir - Add fresh water to the tank until it’s completely filled, then reinstall it in the unit.
- Step 3. Place the catch container under the spout - Set the collection container on the drip tray once again.
- Step 4. Rinse the machine - Follow the on-screen prompts to flush out any remaining descaling liquid.
- Step 5. Empty and reinstall the collection container and drip tray - Remove the catch container and drip tray, pour out any rinse water and then return them to the machine.
- Step 6. Complete 3 rinse cycles - Repeat the rinse process 2 more times for a total of 3 rinse cycles to ensure all descaling agent is fully flushed out of the unit.
